Good luck to everyone on the job interviews! I had an interesting job offer yesterday, totally out of the blue, a guy I used to work with/for at a non-profit over a decade ago called me at work. He said his own business is off the ground and making some decent money and he needs someone better than what he's finding in the regular routes and was wondering what I was up to so he poked around & found me. The money he offered was decent, and the position sounds like it could be a great fit for me, but there's no benefits and I just can't do that. If my DH had a job with benefits, or if we didn't have kids, then it might be something to consider. He asked if I'd be interested in part-time work overseeing a bookkeeper but it would probably be a conflict of interest with my current employer so I said it was great to hear from him, but no thanks.
Oh, and I feel the need to clarify what I said about scavenger hunts yesterday. I totally DO NOT condone the scavenger hunts where things are collected from stores. That hurts their bottom line and it is terribly wasteful since it all goes in the trash afterwards. What we do is scavenger hunts with a digital camera & take pics of the things we find. This weekend the kids & I made a list of ten things and we had to be able to snap their picture from the mall, we couldn't take pics inside any store. Our list was: something shaped like a heart that isn't a real heart; a blue rectangle; a rainbow; someone in orange shorts; someone with hair longer than their butt; a horse; a circle within a circle; water or something that looks like water; twins or siblings dressed the same; and a capital Q.
David Letterman is retiring. Such great memories of watching him over the past thirty-two years!
Well, we are just super duper here. Ben's swab came back positive for strep, and Claire and i had swabs tonight too. Oh, and we leave on holiday on Sat morning. Flight leaves at 7 am. Feels like i swallowed razor blades. I haven't packed a single thing and I HAVE to go to work tomorrow no matter what. The really fun part is that i get to take Ben with me since he can't go to the dayhome with strep. I will have to pack a bunch of toys because there's not much to play with in the office other than fire alarms and elevator buttons. Somebody pass me a large cocktail, please.
Oh Lisa, that sounds awful! I hope you are all feeling a million times better tomorrow and even better than that by Saturday!
Mom to Arianna (5), Conner (3) and Trent (my baby)
I cannot keep up with you all!
Jess and Melissa...good luck on your upcoming interviews. I really hate interviewing. Such a relief when its over though!
My parents fly in today to spend a week with us! I'm so excited to have them here. They are getting much older and this is not something they get to do very often. Its only the second time that they have come since we moved up here.
Nathalie has a dress rehearsal tonight for her recital tomorrow. Emma has a dance to go to tonight (Middle school dances....the epitome of awkward LOL).
Its going to be HOT today. We don't have AC....so hard to justify it in my head given how infrequently we really need it. But i really do not like the heat and I think i'd like some AC today!
ETA: And how can i forget? Nathalie lost her first tooth on Wednesday, and her second yesterday. AND she has a third one loose, right next to the bottom two she just lost. She's going to look very funny with all three of them in a row missing at once! LOL

AC is wonderful! One blessing of living in the South is that everywhere has AC. It is actually more comfortable here than in NY now, because there very few places have AC.
Do you mind if I ask how old she is? Brianna has not lost any of her teeth yet. Her good friend has lost 3 already. She turned 6 back in April.
I am bound to miss something as it has been some time since I've been able to post on this thread.
Best wishes to all of those with job interviews!
Sorry that you weren't getting the response you had hoped for with your own writing. That can be frustrating but also keep in mind that more of your regular audience (I think you write a parenting blog right?) may be gearing up with their own end of school year / summer plans and just not taking the energy to post a response. I'm certain that it will pick up again!
Bonita - have a great day with the end of homeschool party and then the trip to the mountains with family! I hope you have great weather!
Carolyn -- of *course* I read your description of the egg casserole while hungry. Coffee isn't going to fulfill that now! It does sound yummy!
Lisa -- I hope you and the kids all feel MUCH better soon (today is best!) and that you're able to have a wonderful time on your trip!
(Stacey -- loved the :bigjug typo. I am afraid to look that one up though to add it to our options. I may end up with the wrong kind! )
Kim - I hope you enjoy your visit with your parents! I'm sure they will be thrilled to see how much the kids have grown -- in person! For the middle school dances at night... did all of you have that? We had one immediately after school (a 50's sock hop that was a blast) but I don't recall having a "formal" dance. Granted -- that was a millennium ago. *sigh* I received a picture of my niece and her date recently as she attended her 7th grade dance (held at a nearby country club). It was very dressy... dinner out first... and then on to the dance that ended at 11 p.m. She looked too grown up (and dad definitely wasn't ready for that!)
I had one of our girls lose three teeth at once. It did make for some prime picture moments!
Fuchsia: Still thinking of you and Rob! Hope the recovery process is continuing to go well!
Have a fabulous weekend everyone!
Emma didn't lose any teeth until MUCH later. I think she was either at the end of first grade or beginning of second when she lost her first tooth!
This is the earliest any of my kids lost teeth personally, but there are several other in her Kindergarten class that are losing them now too.
