    Thanks guys, for the support.

Mom's husband is totally a weirdo, but we know how happy he made her and he has suffered SO much loss. His mom and his sister also died of cancer not that long before my mom, and his dad is quite old and frail. So we want to make sure he knows he has us, even though we are geographically far away. Technically he's stuck with us for a while since we actually own half of his house, but that's not what it's about at all. He's a funny, sweet weirdo. His emails are in his voice exactly, full of small and tedious details and his very unique perspective on things.

Hey, when does school end for everyone? This is our last week of full days. Next week, Wednesday & Thursday are half days and Friday they go for...an hour. (???) Every year, the last day ends at 9:30 a.m.

The girls and I have been done for a few weeks. DH's school finished a little over a week ago. All of the local public schools are out here now. My nieces and nephews in NY that go to a private school have about a week left.

Laurie -- joining others with sending you tons of virtual hugs and support! I think that it is super and speaks volumes of the love your mom exuded that you now share with others including her dh and pass on to your own children. Kudos for you to continue to channel your energy into making healthier choices for yourself! Good for you in sticking with it! Finally, I hope that you and your sister are able to enjoy your time together this week! It is great to reconnect with sibs (well -- unless they are still putting gum in your hair! :P) Have fun!

Stacey - I hope you have great weather and loads of fun at the carnival. It is amazing the things that little kids can recall!!

Melis - Happy belated birthday! I'm glad you had a good time! The Father's Day gift sounds amazing! I'm sure your dh will be thrilled! Have you heard anything official yet on the job? I wish you all the best in that decision process!

Has anyone found a natural mosquito repellant that works and is safe for kids? I love spending time out but those are putting a huge damper on our fun. Other things that I've tried simply are not effective, nor is it practical to follow the advice to dress in long sleeves/pants. We'd melt! :P

This is what I use. You'll smell like a Eucalyptus tree for a good hour, but it works! I must be made of mosquito bait because they eat me alive but don't touch my husband or kids. This stuff keeps them away, and it doesn't feel sticky at all, which I hate about most other mosquito repellants. They also sell it in a tiny "pen" container that can be carried in a pocket for touchups; it's expensive but nice to have when we're just walking around without a backpack to put the big bottle in.

Due to all the snow this winter along with losing days for what we experienced during Hurricane Sandy my daughter is in school until 6/26 (1/2 day). She's in preschool but follows the public school schedule due to her program.

She won't start school until 9/9 though.

Laurie~I want to be a part of your family. You bake, you have awesome relationships...you all sound so warm and loving!

I bought this one recently, but I haven't used it enough yet to know if it really works well!

ETA: I meant to mention they sell this one at Target (at least by me)

Our schools all ended already....the two teachers that live across the street from us are now off all summer so I silently envy them as I drive out every morning and their cars are still in the driveway

You're a sweetie. Thanks. I am very very lucky to have amazing siblings, I truly love & respect all of them. We're all very close to my Dad as well. And all the cousins (our kids) love each other.

We still make fun of each other, though! And we ALL complain about one particular brother, who drives us all nuts, even though we love him.

We didn't grow up with all this niceness & goodness, if that helps. But now I am profoundly grateful for them. And we all have the same ridiculous sense of humor.

Melissa, I would love to get my dad some tickets to major like that. He would love that and totally deserves it.

My oldest is out of school and the 2 others are done tomorrow. Tomorrow night is my middle DD's 5th grade graduation. I have been working on a slide show all week so I will be happy when it is over and I can be done with it all. Dh and I are both in our classrooms for a few more days. Then we are headed out to a trip to great america and some water parks. So excited to get away for a week
