We have several international offices and all of our international holidays show up on my calendar. Germany and Austrailia have good Friday off...we do not!

By the way the internet gremlins were attacking our site today too! We spent the whole morning trying to fix things that normally just work. Frustrating start to the day. So grateful my husband took on the 2-hour school delay.

    Yay! Enjoy your day off.

AFM - It is a gorgeous day here today. We went to the zoo this morning for a story time and to look around. (We go every Tuesday). My girls have gotten so used to the animals. Even my 3 year old can tell you all of the animals at the zoo. It was very nice to get out after the storms we had yesterday. Last Fall DH planted several tulip bulbs that are now all coming up with big buds. I love Spring here. In NY Springs is all about mud, so it is my favorite time of year to live here.

Alissa enjoy your first day off!!!! Sounds like you have a lovely day planned.

Today is my DD's birthday. My parents took her out to breakfast, she is off at enrichment and I'm deep in the midst of a cleaning binge after a great morning at the gym (i do this amazing class called dance party ~ the entire hour I have a gigantic grin on my face ~ so fun)....and tonight we celebrate! Her party is this weekend, as well as two other birthday parties we are attending. I'm busy menu planning and ordering meat and whatnot for Easter. What do you guys eat for Easter????

Laurie how did the phone interview go?

Lisa DH does not have good friday or easter monday off. He is taking both, however ~ we are hosting so many that I will need the help on Friday and we will need the R&R that Monday!

    Happy Birthday to her!

We will go to church in the morning followed by a brunch and egg hunt at the church. The girls will be dolled up in fancy new dresses. Then we have been invited to dinner to someone from church's house for lunch.

Happy birthday to your daughter! Mine's on Saturday.

Phone interview went well, I think. She asked me a lot of really good questions. I hope my questions were good too. Hoping to move forward...the job sounds spectacular and I do think my background uniquely has what they need.

I have had a ton of digestive issues over the past year but until the other day I'd only been officially diagnosed with lactose intolerance, which is not a big deal. However, my blood work kept coming back all wacky so my doctor sent me for an abdominal ultrasound and we seem to have figured out what's wrong with me, and it sucks. I have fatty infiltration of my liver, called NAFLD (non alcoholic fatty liver disease). I'm not metabolizing fats properly and instead my liver is absorbing that fat. Funny heh, how you can look healthy on the outside but not be healthy on the inside. I also have IBS - alternating months of diarrhea and constipation. The diarrhea has subsided a lot since I cut out certain kinds of dairy. I have to get a handle on this liver thing NOW because it can turn into worse things if left too long. So it's lots of fruits and veggies and protein, with some types of carbs that are also high in fiber, like lentils, chick peas and other legumes. I'm starting a more intense work out program tomorrow to try and kick my metabolism up and I'm taking milk thistle to help strengthen my liver.
I just want to mention something to you. I wrote about food a lot in the fat shaming debate. A good deal of what I know about food comes out of the allergies in my family.

When my daughter's allergy was at it's peak, she had digestion problems, Horrible cracking-bleeding rashes. Truly nightmarish. My little pumpkin would wake up every morning bleeding.

She can't have any of the modified soybean oils. It took us 7 doctors, 2 dentists and 9 months of food journaling to figure it out. And while I certainly don't think that everyone has the same problem as her, it might be worth investigating for you.

When I am talking about modified. . . I don't mean GMO. I mean BVO, Brominated vegetable oil, Hydrogenated Soy Bean Oil, Hydrolysed Vegetable Protein. They all function as preservatives - emulsifyers, and for cosmetic purposes in food. And they are in everything. Crackers, soda, sauces, chocolate.

It is a lot of work but I know we are all physically better off following her diet (family-solidarity!)

I hope that helps you. Feel better.
