So last night i was going through a box of clothes from my sister. She gives us stuff her daughter has outgrown. I find this cute little striped asymmetrical knit skirt. I look at it and think to myself, there's no way that it will fit Emma but it sure looks like it would fit me! So i try it on and sure enough it fits great and is so comfortable! I have Emma take a picture of me in it and I send it to my sister saying "Hey is this ____'s skirt? Because it fits me!"

She writes back to tell me that its actually not a skirt but a girl's poncho.

Well now its a skirt...and its my skirt! LOL

I can't remember when I started needing deodorant but I know it was something I thought of doing myself, not that anyone told me I needed. Tiven doesn't seem to be quite as in tune with her body as I was so I'm keeping my nose open for clues, LOL! Earlier this year she got a bit stinky and I was wondering if maybe puberty was starting way early, but it turned out she had a yeast infection. Some of the girls on her soccer team (8-year-olds!) are shaving already. I don't shave and we've had some talks about the pros & cons of it but I didn't get any real sense of how she feels about it. I had an electric razor when I was a teenager and that thing was awesome, so I'd probably nudge her toward something like that over a razor.

Alissa, that's very exciting news about *both* houses, good luck!

Lisa, your hair appointment sounds like fun but I'm not sure I want someone near my head with scissors after some wine. Some of the moms from school have done something like that at a nail salon; we get the whole place to ourselves for three hours in the evening, we can bring food & wine & CDs, and if you have enough people, splitting the rental fee plus tips doesn't cost much more than a regular mani/pedi during their normal hours.

Laurie, hope you're feeling better & the leg cramps don't interfere with your vacation. Besides Ibuprofen & Arnica, I second Melis' suggestion of soaking in Epsom salt bath. Here's an article that explains the chemistry of how Epsom salts work: Quick Cures/Quack Cures: Is Epsom Worth Its Salt? - WSJ.com

We've been going to Tiven's soccer & baseball games as a family. Weston usually plays with other younger siblings, or he plays in nearby dirt or at a nearby playground, if he's uninterested in the game; DH & I tag-team watching him & watching the game. He's definitely the classic second child being dragged around to Tiven's activities, but he's never seemed to mind and usually has a lot of fun. However, the last two weeks he's asked why he has to go, why can't he stay home, etc. The game this week is in a neighborhood that is also hosting a street festival. Do you all think it would be OK/fair/not promoting sibling rivalry/etc. for one of us to take him to the festival instead of to the ball game? Even if we take Tiven to the festival for a while after the game, she'll probably complain about not getting as much time as Weston.
David Letterman is retiring. Such great memories of watching him over the past thirty-two years!

So we went to the musical ride last night. It was at a horrible facility at a town about 45 min from us. Like, seriously, a dirt pit with some bleachers around the rim. It made no sense to me since we have a great indoor and outdoor arena that would have been awesome for it less than an hour away in our town. But anyways.....it was supposed to start at 630 and the weather was coldish, but OK. By the time the 'preshow' finished (which was boring and stupid) and they got started it was starting to rain. The big kids, DH and I all had jackets, but I had left the baby's rain gear in the car (Oh, and we had to walk about 30 min from the parking lot to this 'facility') so I turned my coat around, put it around the baby and stuck my arms through the arm holes. Then it started to pour! We stuck it out, even though the kids were also cold and cuddled on DH's lap. My jacket is too tight to zip up with baby and I, so my back was soaking and I was so cold I was shivering. Then when it was over we had to trudge (this time through the mud) back to the car. There were covered wagons that you could get a ride on, but lazy stupid people kept filling them up (yes, that was my judgmental thoughts at the time and I stand by it), and I couldn't stand around waiting, so we walked back to the car. Halfway back DD plaintively said, Mommy, my shoes are getting heavy, and I looked down to see about 2 inches of mud caked on the bottom of her shoes (that is the kind of mud we have around here). I was SO cold, but baby stayed warm and dry, which is the most important I guess.

Anyways, just needed to share. I was really disappointed cause I think DD would have really enjoyed the ride, and she could have met the riders afterwards, but was too cold to stay and chat.

    That's disappointing Kyla. Sorry.

I have an accent. I drop my "r's" and I say a lot of regional things. I also say "ahhhhnt" not "ant' lol.

Everyone has an accent when they go somewhere else. I work with a lot of people in our London office, and to me they have such strong accents, but I'm sure my accent is just as noticeable to them.

    Kyla, that sounds awful!

    Congratulations Alissa!!!

I don't really have an accent, but when I'm around my family from NC the southerner in me comes out pretty hard.

It is RCMP on horseback doing drills. It looks really neat (neater than it sounds).
