I never consider a difference of opinion in politics, in religion, in philosopy, as a cause for withdrawing from a friend. --Thomas Jefferson
Add us to the heat wave crew. We spent the morning at the gym and then had to make a return at the mall. Home now for lunch and naps and then off to the pool as its just too hot to be anywhere else. At least it isn't raining! After several straight weeks of some form of rain every single day I will take it!
Cloudy and cold here today with thunderstorms in the forecast. I think it's only supposed to be 15 degrees, which is 59 for you American gals. Brrr....
I skimmed the last few pages, sorry.
Sorry for all of those that are too hot. This AM we went to the Library for the end of the summer reading program party. There was a fun magic show. Then I worked in my garden. I went ahead and pulled up the sweet potato plants because they were dying. I just had two pots. I got enough sweet potatoes to make one meal. They were small, but there was a lot of them. I am excited to try them. I hope they taste ok. This is my first time growing sweet potatoes. They are still selling the plants, so I might try a second crop of them.
I made those sweet potato spears on saturday night differently than usual ~ usually I just use olive oil, but on a whim I rubbed them lightly with coconut oil instead and they were incredible. The coconut oil really brought out the sweetness in them, which coupled with the salt and rosemary was delish. I will never make them with olive oil again.
Lisa, thats COLD ..... thats not normal summertime temps, right?
I bought coconut oil and have been meaning to bake with it, it's in a lot of recipes! Haven't used it yet.
I love coconut oil! I replace the butter in most of my sweet recipes with it. I find the smell puts me off of savory biscuits etc, but yum, it sure makes pancakes smell good....or chocolate cake!
We have been cold here lately too Lisa, but have just entered a sunny spell. Hope it is moving towards you too!

Im obsessed with it. I use it on my skin and hair too. Great great stuff.
I love coconut oil too. Ever used it on the griddle for pancakes? Deelish. Though I have a hard time with pancakes now but I still make them for the kids.
And yeah, Melis, it's not normal summer temps but we always have at least a few really cold days every summer. It's a nasty north wind today. How do you use the coconut oil in your hair? Do you melt it first or just grab some solid stuff and slather it in?
And Kyla, you can buy coconut oil with no aroma. I have both kinds and use the stuff with no aroma for cooking things that shouldn't have that whiff or taste of coconut. But it tends to be of a lesser quality, the aroma-free stuff.
