    Happy birthday to the baby!

My dad is turning 71 next week and yesterday had double hernia surgery. He is already home and recovering. I am in awe of him. Apparently he is out getting a haircut today and is heading back to Fire Island this afternoon, bruises and all.

It's a bajillion degrees out again today and my husband keeps emailing me amusing suggestions from Mayor Bloomberg about staying in the shade and drinking lots of water.

I've never bought a house so I don't know anything about the procedure. Is it like renting where your proposal package includes some information about who you are & why they should rent to you? If so, then maybe they'll like your story better than the others. My friend swears they got their place because they were having twins and the owners also had twins, because there were a ton of other offers including couples with two incomes and no kids who, on paper, would probably be better tenants.
At their realtor's suggestion, we wrote "a schmooze letter" and included it with our offer. Basically we said how much we loved the house, talked about how we could see raising our kids there, and also dropped mention that DH is a teacher (because we're pretty sure that one of them is a teacher because they had a ton of teaching supplies in the office) hoping that would make them want to pick us. LOL I don't know if it's legal for them to ask anything about us, but it's legal for us to volunteer the info. DH wrote the letter, and it was full on schmooze - he even mentioned that yesterday was our 8th wedding anniversary and something about how "we're hoping for yet another reason to celebrate..." LOL

Still haven't heard anything. Our offer is supposed to expire at 4 pm today, and it's 11:30. I'm trying to decide - is that a good thing or a bad thing or meaningless? Argh, I'm so bad at waiting.

ETA: Oh yeah, and I cut off all my hair yesterday. Like almost literally all of it. It's a pixie cut with some longish layers on top and bangs. The hairdresser was kind of freaked out to do it because my hair was all the way down my back past my bra strap. I like it. It was time for a change.

Alissa I love the cut- super flattering to your pretty eyes!

house hunting is a special sort of torture. Happy birthday to Trent!!!

Its like 110 here today so we are pool bound again- it's so humid you are just drenched in sweat doing anything. I picked a studio to study at and sent in my deposit- yoga teacher training starts in September?!?!?! So excited.

Melis -- what kind of yoga do you want to teach? Any specific type? I've done vinyasa, kundalini, and hatha, but I like vinyasa best of all.

Im not sure- vinyasa is my go to as well- I will have a general certification (200 hours) and then can specialize as I like. I used to be a doula and massage therapist so may get back into the birth world a little- we have a serious dearth of prenatal and kids yoga in my immediate area so maybe focus on that? I also LOVE power yoga and have recently started doing bikram- so who knows. It's a 9 month program so I'm sure I will get a feel for what niche I want to get into once I'm in it.

    Thank you!

Melissa, how exciting about becoming a yoga teacher! I wish you lived close, I would totally take your class!
