I always tell parents not to worry that their kids are great for me at school. I wish my kids were always the kids other adults say they are, or maybe not. Perfect kids would be boring

Juliet's kindergarten teacher was SHOCKED when we told her that Juliet is very feisty and willful at home. She honestly had no idea. Juliet is a lovely, considerate, thoughtful kid at school. At home it's all about her. I'm glad for it...it means she trusts us, and it means she's capable of self-control when she deems it necessary. Smart kid.

Nathaniel is a lot more consistent.

And Juliet has this fierce love for me that means I get the biggest, most powerful love from her along with the worst, demanding abuse. I get that it's really all about the love.

I agree with your entire post. Claire is the same - intensely loving of me, but when she rages I get the brunt of her ire. But then she says things like "Mommy, when you're old I want you to come and live with me so I can take care of you." Claire's kindy teacher said that she's starting to participate more and come out of her shell. Like, wha?????? THAT kid? The one we're both looking at right now???? lol....She fancies herself as the Queen of the house, the supreme ruler of all of us servants. Then there's that intense love and bonding she and I have going on right now. I need to soak it all in while I can. We'll talk again in a few more years. eta...Oh, and the stomping of the feet and the flinging herself down in a puddle of crocodile tears has got me on the verge. I cannot tolerate it.

Omg, exactly! How old is she? She loves me so much and wants to marry me and be with me forever and she loves me so...LOVINGLY. And she also stamps and flings herself into turmoil and fake tears and drama.

    But she loves me so.

If they were wired properly, then if both switches are up OR down, the light should be off. If one switch is up while the other is down, then the light is on.

What I find interesting is the people who tell me that *their* kids are better behaved when Tiven is with them. At home, she instigates all kinds of trouble with Weston, pesters him, talks him into things he shouldn't do, overreacts when he does something to her, etc. So to hear that she's this wonderful, well-behaved creature who not only sets a good example, but who brings troubled siblings together in some magical Peace Treaty kind of way is.... interesting. Why can't she do that at home?

That's also Tiven so I'm so glad to hear it's normal and a good thing.

Ya, I know it is a good thing. He had a huge meltdown last night and then when things started this morning... ugh! Generally he is a great kid but a huge drama king!

Our cat had kittens! She had two of them in the night a day ago. Unfortunately one of them didn't make it - just was weaker than the other. But the other one is doing well and strong. Kaiya and her friend were there yesterday when I found the one that had passed so they had a lesson in life. They helped me bury it and put some flowers down for it. They seem unfazed at the moment but I am sure there will be more questions throughout the day.

So sad about the kitten Fuchia. I know its just part of life, but still sad.

So, all the racism talk in the other thread made me think of my son the other day. We were in the grocery store and he was walking out in front of me as we walked along the back of the store. Every time someone came out of an isle close in front of us with a cart he would yell Ahhh and pretend that he thought they were going to hit him. It was equal parts cute and annoying. Then this black man walked out of the frozen foods and he did the same thing (no big deal), but as we walked away he yells `Mommy, I saw a black man!`, so it looked like he was yelling Ahh and scared of the black guy. I was so embarrassed! Needless to say we dont have very many black people in our area.

Our area is the opposite. Almost everyone is black and we are snow white. Just yesterday one of my daughters asked me why we look different from our neighbours. (Our next door neighbours are white though). I grew up in an all white area so it has been a different experience for us.
