I am pretty sure he was just making an observation. My DH is First Nations, so our family is a mix of skin tones. Everything from DH who is very 'brown' to DD who is almost albino It is actually a common topic in our house right now because people are always asking who the baby looks like. Conner (who made the black man comment) is actually the darkest of our kids, but we dont see many really BLACK people around here, and this guy was really dark.

Brown people to me are first nations, indian, people whos skin tone is truly brown and not black.

My great grandfather was Roma gypsy. Every once in a while someone gets the gypsy look, usually a girl. My cousin and I are the black-haired/olive skin girls, while everyone else is very anglo/British in their attributes. Neither of my kids got the gypsy. DS looks like somebody else's kid with his white hair and blue eyes.

I feel sorry for the poor guards outside St. Mary's Hospital, having all those cameras pointed at them all day long while the world waits to hear that the royal baby has been born. I feel sorry for Kate, too, knowing that the world is waiting. We didn't tell anyone except MIL (who was going to be here) when I went into labor.

Omg, everyone knew I'd gone into labor! The families, friends, co-workers....they had a baby pool at work for Nathaniel, so everyone knew about that, and for Juliet, I was actually on my BlackBerry between contractions. Lol.

But the families all knew, friends, everyone.

No cameras, though! No guards. No royal expectations.

With Tiven, we had given everyone candles to light when I went into labor, which never happened, and I was soooooo tired of the "Is it happening yet?" phone calls. When we called people after she was born, everyone wanted to know why we hadn't called when we went to the hospital. We didn't call because we weren't expecting to stay there, we were expecting to come home after everything was fine, except that things went wrong. So with Weston I didn't want that at all, which was a good call since it took three days for him to arrive. People did end up knowing, my MIL had to call someone to feed her cats and my sister happened to call during a particularly rough contraction. DH, in a moment of forgetfulness, asked me in the middle of it if I wanted to talk to her and I screamed some unprintable things at him. So yeah, people ended up knowing.

I wonder what it would be like to be a fly on the wall when the new Prince was born. I know babies are born every day and they are always exciting, but I bet that was an exciting time. I wish them all the best.

I would love to have been in London today. I love London, by far my favorite big city. I think it would have been so much fun. The whole country loves the royal family so much

Am I the only one who doesn't get into the whole royal family thing? I just don't get it. Seems so archaic and weird to me and I grew up in Canada where we had a picture of the Queen up in all of the classrooms.
