Ah- your right, sorry- i had only seen photos of the police escort and was assuming (incorrectly!) . That stretch hummer was a boat. I felt safe, as safe as I do putting my kids in the school bus- it wasn't what we planned and we had tried to do the right thing but we went with what worked. My 6.5 year old just came out of a 5 point- I still hate the parent shaming I saw on FB. It's just lame
Ugh. Stupid 85-pound carseats (or more). Sure, they make 'em to hold a lot of weight, but they don't make the damn shoulder strap slots go high enough. Claire's like 52 pounds but she's grown out of the carseat for height.
Princess Diana wore a dress that shrouded everything below her neck in a big green tent. It was the 80s, she's forgiven for that.
Many recent celebrity moms have hidden their baby bellies. Gwyneth Paltrow said at the time when she introduced Apple Martin to the world outside the hospital that she was wearing a Spanx, and she didn't show off Moses for two weeks and had a flat belly by then. Neither of the Kardashian sisters was filmed leaving the hospital after giving birth; Kourtney "debuted her post-baby body" on a magazine cover a few weeks later both times, and Kim is now in hiding, supposedly refusing to leave the house until she loses her baby weight.
It takes 12 pounds of grain and 2500 gallons of water to produce ONE POUND of beef.
Livestock generates 65% of all human-related nitrous oxide, which is 296 times more warming to the environment than carbon dioxide; 37% of all human-related methane, which 23 times as warming as CO2; and 64 percent of ammonia, which contributes significantly to acid rain.

Nathalie is still not doing well. The Rx does not seem to be helping to prevent the headaches. She had one yesterday and she seemed to do well most of today but then it got worse by the end of the day. She told me her head started hurting around 3ish and by 6:00 she had fallen asleep. Its hard to convince her to eat and she was very sensitive to sound/loud noises.
Ugh, this is so friggin stressful. If she is still having daily headaches like this for the next few days, i'm not going to be able to wait for my two week follow up. I gave her ibuprofen again tongiht, even though i gave it to her yesterday too. I just can't stand to see her like this.
I'm sorry to hear that Nathalie hasn't improved. I believe Stacey mentioned meningitis as a possibility. When we dealt with that, however, it was accompanied by fever as well and the symptoms got progressively worse and stayed that way. It sounds like she has some periods of the day when she does feel better?
Something else came to mind. I vaguely recall your sharing about taking the kids for a hike. Do you think that there is any chance that she may have been bitten by a tick or other bug? One of our adult friends had on / off symptoms that eventually did receive a diagnosis related to tick bite. (I can't recall whether it was Lyme disease or Rocky Mtn. spotted fever as it was a long time ago.) I know that it is a long shot but I wanted to offer it as a suggestion.
I hate when kids are not feeling well -- particularly with some mystery illness. Know we'll continue to keep you all in our thoughts and prayers.
Hope she's MUCH improved soon!

Missy, yes she has had periods where she seems much like her regular self. I have thought a couple of times that she felt warm, but when i take her temperature, its normal. Isn't that weird? It even happened at the doctor's office. They took her temp and it was normal, but then the doctor commented on how she felt warm to her. She also has no neck stiffness or anything like that. So the ups and downs in condition, lack of fever and lack of stiffness makes me (and the doctor) lean towards it not being meningitis.
The tick bite/bug bite thing has been thrown around between me and Seamus a few times. I think its a possibility that I plan on mentioning the next time we go to the doctors. The symptoms started showing up before the hike...but she could have easily gotten the bite at home, or up at a local pond the sitter takes them to sometimes.
She had such a good morning and early afternoon today. I started getting hopeful that the Rx was working. I guess we'll see how the next few days go.
