Not a bad parent Kim. You are helping to foster her independence and giving her a chance to gain confidence in her own abilities. If your child doesnt need you to cover, then why be a helecopter?

My sister sent her kindergartener on the bus to school one day when he didnt have class. He had to sit in front of the office till she got there.

So, a long time goal of mine has been to start running, like marathon running, but I am overweight and out of shape and just have never gotten it together to do it, especially not on my own. DH and I were talking last night and I said I wanted to join a gym because if I run on a treadmill it will tell me when to run and when to walk and help me gain endurance. He hates treadmills and prefers to run off road (he is in way better shape than me).

Anyways, a friend and I were talking about it at a playdate this morning and she introduced me to the couch to 5 k app on my phone. I am going to try it I think, and am looking for some good 'exercise' songs to listen to when I run. Any suggestions? About running, or music.

When I say long time goal, I mean that perfect self that I picture myself to be in the future is a runner She also dresses way better than me and never loses her ****.

Kim, I am sure you are doing a great job. If she can handle it herself then good for her! And good for you for letting her!

I realize I haven't been on here for a while!

We are doing well. We are waiting on the insurance companies to get their heads out of their butts and gives us Rob's disability. They are trying not to for stupid reasons but we have the doctor's backing so hopefully it will be soon. We quite like eating and would like to keep doing so! Rob is doing physio and is progressing faster in someways and much slower in others. He needs to rest but that is hard when there is a small girl who needs him to do things like get the milk for her. I am now back to work full time and he is on daddy duty a couple of days a week. It is hard, but it is temporary.

It is temporary cause Kaiya goes to Kindergarten in 21 days! I can't believe my little baby is old enough for Kinder! Where did the last 5 years go? I just had this little baby and now she is a big girl who wants to learn to read and do math and grow up. Who said they were allowed to grow up?

I am very lucky that my work is by her school and they are allowing me to work 3 short days a week so that I can drop her off and pick her up! Then the other two days I will work a 9 hour shift as the grandparents have dinners with her and will do the pick up. But that still means that while I am working she will be in school or at a special dinner. And all of the time she will be at home I will be off work. We won't have any more of her at home wishing I wasn't at work. She will be busy and distracted and not need me. I am so happy about that! I have felt so bad leaving her at home, or daycare, or with sitters, to go to work all of these years. It is weird but in a way with her in school we will get more time together.

So that is where things are for us.

Anyone remember that I mentioned a couple of weeks ago how Weston's right eye looked white in a couple of photos from our vacation? He had a well check last week and the ped didn't see anything wrong with his eye, but she agreed that his eye didn't look right in the photos. She made an appointment for him with Opthamology so DH took him today and they dilated his eyes and did the whole shebang of an exam. And his eyes are perfect. Whew!

Kyla, that's awesome!! I started running over 2 1/2 years ago, and I used the Couch to 5K app to get me started. It's programmed so it'll tell you when to walk and when to run. I was also overweight when I started....I had just joined Weight Watchers right before I started running. My goal at first was just to complete one race, and hopefully lose weight. I ended up losing over 60 lbs, and have kept running. One thing that kept me motivated was to find races to do. They are so much fun! And you can meet the best people through running. Do you have a local running store nearby? They may have a program to help people become runners as well. Ours did, and luckily it was free.

Sorry...kind of hijacked your post . I'm in the throes of marathon training, so I'm all wrapped up in running right now.

Oh dude! You should download the Songza app for your phone!!!! It has just the perfect music for working out, entertaining, relaxing poolside, girls night out, romance, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. Literally, you turn it on, it says "It's Saturday Afternoon" or whatever day/time it is and then you get to pick from a whole slew of different genres of music, including workout/exercising music to keep you motivated. I love love love Songza for that, and.....it's FAH-REEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! The only catch is that you can't go skipping through a ton of songs. If you skip too many songs it tells you 'sorry, you can only skip so many songs at a time'. Not bad for free cool a$$ music.

If anything good can come out of having to put your 4-year-old back in pull ups it is that explosive diarrhea stays relatively contained. The poor sweet boy actually got up, took the pull up off and put it in the trash, sat on the potty and then tried to clean himself up. I think he was pretty embarrassed.
