I remember a very old debate about school supplies, but one of the people posting was being asked to buy really really ridiculous things for their kid(s). The price tag was huge and the list was crazy-specific. This was years ago, but I remember being shocked by the list and the price.
Our school supplies except for kleenex is all for Robbie's use. Our school council gives each teacher $150 for things like stickers and other little things. Robbie's scissors are now going on 4 years, his pencil box 3 years, most of the stuff up until now have been consumables (notebooks, glue, crayons) and his school really recommends that you reuse supplies that you already have. They asked for specific water colours and pastels but they get what I bought (these have now lasted 2 years so far). Some of the schools do the supply package (my friend's son had to pay $80 for his supplies) but I like reusing things I can.

Anyone else enjoy the blue moon last night?
I took this picture:
Taking pictures of the moon is one of my favorite things, however with my limited knowledge of photography, I am incapable of getting the picture i really want. Its one of my goals someday...to be good enough to get the type of photo i want!

Kim, that photo is gorgeous!
And I'm glad our full school supply kits were under $40 each, but my kids are young yet.
Anyone ever had a boudoir photo session? I'm thinking of having one done - you know, all glam and sexy - heels and pull-up stockings and Victoria's Secret, glam makeup, etc. I'm doing it for me, but I know that DH will love some pics as a gift (maybe xmas?). I've been feeling kind of non-sexy lately, mostly because I haven't been putting the effort into ME in terms of looks and stuff.
Anyone seen today's Google doodle? It's beautiful. I took a few minutes this morning to watch and listen to the whole thing and it was soothing and beautiful.
Today is Juliet's 6th birthday. Hard to believe! I remember the day she was born so well. I was at work and my contractions started and so my office mate insisted on taking me to my doctor. She said that yes, I was going to have the baby today, but go walking for a while, so my office mate and I walked for 30 blocks, laughing, calling people, it was a gorgeous day and we had lots of fun. Juliet was born about 15 minutes before midnight. Dave could barely speak when I called to tell him Juliet was on the way, she wasn't due for another 3 weeks. I knew, though...I'd woken up at 4:00 a.m. convinced that that day was THE day.
I was up for hours last night making heart-shaped (and star-shaped) peanut butter sandwich cookies for her, and we gave her her presents this morning. We're having a big dinner tonight at a restaurant she picked with family & friends, she'll do her kid party in September.
It's bittersweet for me. I am so thrilled for my amazing girl and I love her so much, but it is still a huge shock to me that my mom isn't around for this. I never in a million years thought she would die before Juliet's 6th birthday. I find myself very emotional. (It would have been my mom's 2nd wedding anniversary on the 18th.)
Anyway sorry for the spillage. It's all on my mind today. Will try to stay focused on the positive: my incredible amazing daughter, who has the strength of twenty! She's a powerhouse and I'm glad, all wrapped up in this adorable little package.
Happy Birthday to Juliet! All the emotion is understandable. Hugs to you.
Peanut Butter sandwich cookies...YUM. I hope she has a fantastic day!
I saw the google doodle. Loved it! Although they cut it short, before my favorite part of the song. I guess it would be kind of long though to do the entire piece.
