Alissa - I am sorry the other house did not work out, but Yay for finding something else that you like!

Alissa, that's great that you found another house so quickly! We had a house with a lot of electrical problems....it was NOT fun!

I love those rubbermaid lunch cubes! I may have to try them.

That being said, anyone want to offer me some of their great/favorite kids lunch ideas? I'm looking to expand what we do for lunches.

One of T's favorite lunches is hummus with pita chips and veggies (usually baby carrots and broccoli.) We also sometimes make English muffin pizzas. They are cold when he eats them, but he doesn't seem to mind. I'm also planning on putting hot spaghetti and meat sauce in a thermos food jar, but I haven't tried that yet because it's been so hot here, spaghetti doesn't sound super appealing yet. Would love more ideas though. This is the first year that I don't have to worry about dairy kosher, so I'm kind of excited to expand my horizons.

Alissa, that's great! Love that you turned it around....I think there's something weirdly mystical about real estate, because it always works out for the best. So happy for you.

Lunches are SO hard. Nathaniel will eat anything but loves the awful hot lunch at school, and Juliet eats nothing but bagels with cream cheese. It's very challenging. Also she likes something for a while and then stops liking it.

Sometimes we take them to the grocery store and have them pick out the stuff for the week, so they feel like they're making choices. And both kids love taking dinner leftovers -- pasta or chicken.

Otherwise I wish they'd just eat peanut butter & jelly like I used to.

Haha, am I the only one that won't even consider rounding up the energy to make little rabbits and turtles and stuff out of my kid's lunch? I just can't even. LOL

No, you are not! Thankfully DH makes lunches because I can't even be bothered cutting up a carrot, LOL. Tiven won't eat a whole one, but same carrot, smaller pieces, she eats just fine. What's up with that?

PB&J sandwiches, pasta salad, hummus to spread on pita bread, rice salad, tabbouleh, and falafel are routine favorites. Sometimes when it's cold she'll have some mac & cheese or minestrone soup or pasta in marinara sauce. Always some kind of fruit *and* some kind of veggie if it's not mixed in with the entree, we'll often stir mixed veggies into the mac & cheese so there won't be a side of veggies. And if it doesn't seem like enough protein, then we'll throw in a yogurt tube or stick cheese.

Probably because they aren't recyclable in the curbside bins but no one wants to take them home to recycle so they end up in the trash, which ends up polluting the ocean. Also if it's a preschool, there's a danger that the little kids might choke on one if they find it lying around. Just better for everyone, and for the earth, to avoid them altogether. :hippie:

And good luck with the new house! I swear if I ever buy a house, it's going to be the place I die in. The thought of buying & selling at the same time & packing & moving more than once while doing everything else that needs doing, it just send shivers through me. No thank you.

Melissa~I have 2 bento sets that I bought at TJ Maxx last year and I have seen them there this year too. I forget how much they were...think around 10.00 a piece?

I am headed to Target tomorrow to buy that set that was previously mentioned...where it locks into the ice set. It looks neat AND I have a coupon

Do me a favour, guys. Google 'sour toe yukon' and read the story. It will be the most bizarre thing you'll read in like a week or month or whatever. I heard about it on the radio this morning and couldn't believe it, but there it is on my news page!

Anyone else watching Orange Is The New Black on Netflix? I love it. I only have a few episodes to go, I think I'm starting episode 11 next. It's so good!!!

I have to be so careful watching on my iPad, I always switch it back to "KIDS" afterwards so Juliet doesn't get a terrifying surprise when she goes to watch something.
