Ummm, OK.... Guess I'll go ahead & cross that one off my bucket list. Darn.

I know! It's weird enough that the toe was eaten, but that it's happened several other times and there's been a supply of human toes. Gross.

First day of school over and done with! Second day on its way. All went well. Aodhan is at the middle school this year and his first day seemed to be a good one.

I just had one of the best days yesterday with Emma. It was so much fun. Since Emma doesn't start school until next week we went on a little outing together yesterday. I had the caretaker come and meet the kids off the bus so that we could come home in the ealry evening. We took a daytrip to the coast. We picked a great hike in the AM. It was a fun one and a nice way to start the day. Then we went into the nearby town and had lunch and did some shopping! We bought a gift for our summer caretaker, among other various little things. It was GORGEOUS out.

It was really fantastic to get to spend the entire day with Emma. I do not get to do things like that often enough. I'd say yesterday was just about perfect! Kind of gives you a high, you know? I also feel so blessed to live in such a great area. I used to make fun of how "Maine-centric" the residents are here and how they are sure its the best place on earth...i still do make fun of them. But I do have to confess, its a pretty awesome state.

We ordered Claire's glasses a couple days ago and she is very excited about them. We got 2 pairs - one will stay in her backpack and the other at home. The last thing I need to do every morning is rip the place apart looking for her glasses, which I know would happen eventually. The great thing was that they only cost us $113 for both because my Blue Cross covered most of it!

I can't believe that next week I will have 2 kids in school. Ben starts preschool next Wednesday and he will go Mon/Wed/Fri. His teacher called last night and she sounds so cool and fun. Ben will LOVE school. I can't wait for him to experience it.

Why didn't I think of the two glasses thing? Nathaniel is always leaving his glasses at home or looking for them.

Kim, that sounds awesome. I'd love a day like that.

The kids still have another week off after this one before school starts! Then I'll have a first grader and a fourth grader. That's just plain crazy.

Looks like I will be doing my long drive weekend just me and the kids DH was supposed to be called for court yesterday, and they still havent called him. If he is not done by 5 today he will be kept over till tomorrow, and we have to leave today to get there in time. The lawyer for the defense is doing this scuzzy move where he is keeping everyone over the next break. If they are almost done with you and there is lunch or the end of the day coming up, he keeps asking questions till the end and then says he needs you again the next day. Then next day they have to waste time swearing you in and starting everything, just for him to say he doesnt need you anymore after a few questions. It is a move to waste time so that the trial will have to be held over again because they run out of court time. So now they are way behind, and if they dont do DH before lunch, he knows he will be held over till tomorrow morning.

This sucks. Any suggestions on traveling with a one year old? My big kids are great, but he is a big pain

GUYS! Dave went to a snoring specialist today who found the problem and says it's curable!

    OMG!!!

I can't believe it. I just can't. They are getting an x-ray and trying some things next week but he says 100% he can fix it and find a solution that won't require using a machine at night, although we will do that temporarily.

I could sing and dance and cry all at once. This is going to change my life.

Um, okay you MUST keep me posted on this, as I also live with a terrible snorer. DH rattles the walls sometimes. He's a thin guy, so weight isn't the issue. As soon as he rolls onto his back the sawing of the logs starts. One doctor told him to buy ME ear plugs. Yeah, sorry. Not good enough.

    I know the feeling. Exactly.

Basically the doctor said that there are two physical conditions (one with the nose, one with the throat) that cause snoring, and Dave has both of them. So he's having Dave get a head x-ray just to confirm exactly what's going on, and gave him some nasal spray to try out in the meantime, but he said the options are going to be either a dental implant or surgery that might even be laser surgery done in the office. He's going to try out that machine too, but none of us see that as a long term solution. It's so unsexy! Also you can't travel with it, it makes a sound, etc.

So the doctor promised him that he's going to fix this problem with a good permanent solution.

It's HUGE. Dave went to a doctor before who basically said, "Yeah, people snore." So annoying but also he didn't explain to her the depth of what was going on.

I'll keep you posted for sure.

Does he sleep with a big pillow? If so, try switching to a small neck support type pillow instead. Pillows tend to hold the head at an irregular angle which restricts the airway, which causes snoring. If switching pillows doesn't work, then insist on him seeing another doctor because this is NOT something to put off. Studies have shown that chronic snorers have a greatly increased risk of heart disease because the lack of oxygen causes the heart to work harder, and snoring can also be an indicator of risk factors for stroke because reduced blook flow causes snoring. Not to mention it drives you batty, that on its own should be enough to get him to seek help!
