    Love the new house Alissa!

Bonita, I hope you feel better!

Napping whenever you want sounds glorious Laurie .

Okay...Chad really needs to get hours during the day. Between Matt and Nathan playing basketball (and having practices), and Matt being in a play...plus choir...I feel like my life is spent driving around and trying to keep track of all of the schedules. Plus Matt's first performance is tonight, and I can't be there because Nathan has practice. At least there are two more performances.

And I'm pretty much back to 100% percent after the Chicago Marathon this past Sunday. It was such an incredible day. It was cool, sunny, and the best 26.2 miles ever! The spectators totally made the day. Almost 2,000,000 people line the streets through the 29 neighborhoods we ran through.

Does anyone have any fun light-hearted things to talk about today? I could use a pick me up.

I'm planning to replace all the carpet in my downstairs with wood look tile and I'm trying to decide which color to go with. Any suggestions?

    or Black Walnut?

We put similar tile in the house we are renting out in a lighter oak color and I really like the way it turned out, but I want to go a little darker this time.

Well, I heard on the radio that facebook is all effed up right now. Ha ha. Just imagine all the people who can't post pics of the weekend and who are going into total meltdown mode.

Gloria, I like the black walnut. It seems a bit more neutral and would be easier to match to your decor. The mahogany has a bit too much red in it, for my taste at least.

We are also putting down new flooring in the spring. All new carpet (it is light beige and you can just imagine all the spills, stains, etc. the kids have been responsible for) and new flooring througout. We're thinking a fairly dark grey/taupe for the carpet, but that nice thick looped carpet - almost like shag. For the kitchen, dining and front entry floors we will probably do laminate (we will never recover the cost of hardwood when we sell). My mom told me about that tile that looks exactly like wood - it all clicks together and it's easy on the pocketbook. I will need to look into that.

Before the new floors go down, though, I need to repaint the whole house. There are a couple of problems with that. The first is that we have those hideous popcorn ceilings and so painting the edge where the ceiling meets the wall is going to be tricky. The second issue is that we have massive vaulted ceilings throughout the living/kitchen/dining rooms. I would not feel very comfortable being up that high (at least 20 feet) on a ladder. I may have to inquire into how much it would cost to have just the vaulted area professionally painted. I also have to repaint all the baseboards and window trim.

Yes I understand that is why we are replacing our carpet it is really disgusting. Our house was a foreclosure to start with and then just had the light beige carpets. They were already disgusting when we moved in but we didn't have the money to change them out, so we steam cleaned them and did the best we could, but they are getting worse and worse and I can't stand it anymore. I HATE carpet. This tile we are putting in is porcelain, it is a bit of work to put in but pretty much indestructible once you have it down.

I am the wrong person to ask. I am terrible at making decisions like that. Our whole kitchen is gutted down to the studs and I have to decide what kind of floor I want put in. We are down to tile or hard wood, but I go back and forth until I go crazy.

That is funny. I have been on off and on all day and have not had any problems. Must be I missed it.

That's why I really like this tile. It looks like wood but you don't have to worry about it getting wet and warped or scratched like real wood or laminate.

In other non upbeat news, I still am full of infection. They did the surgery anyway hoping that would help the infection to go away and gave me a new antibiotic. I do not think that has worked. I have a call into the urologist's nurse but she is at lunch. I think the next step it IV antibiotics at home. I have already been on 6 or 7 antibiotics but nothing seems to be working.
