I got the results back from the testing I had done at the hospital on Thursday. No blood clots. Yay! She is going to refer me to a Cardiologist to see what is going on, but it was good news.

My sister & her boys came out this weekend. Sadly, it wasn't as much fun as I had hoped. They were supposed to come out on Friday but she threw out her back, apparently on Thursday if Facebook is telling the truth, but she didn't say anything to me until Friday afternoon when she said they wouldn't be out on Friday night, after all. Her older boy, age 11, had his nose in his phone the entire time. The younger one, age 4, alternated between being a brat and a tyrant. She had to go home Sunday because she had to work on Monday morning, so I tried to negotiate keeping the boys another night -- I'd take them to do something fun with us & then we could meet halfway for a hand-off after she got off work -- but she said her older boy had too much homework so they had to go home on Sunday. When I said I don't and won't make my kids do homework on weekends, that triggered a heated discussion in which she accused me of wanting my kids to flunk out of school and of setting them up to fail as adults. We spent Sunday at Fairyland and her older son complained about everything the entire time, and her younger son was a freaking holy terror the whole time.

The highlight of my weekend was Weston at Fairyland. After we rode the "Jolly Trolley" train, my sister took all the kids to the Dragon Slide while I got in line at the cafe for lunch. As the kids & my sister trickled back to me, it became apparent that Weston was missing. They all thought he stayed with me & I thought he went with them. My sister went to find him & I watched for a staff person to come by that I could grab without losing my place in line, LOL! When my sister came back with a smiling Weston holding her hand, she said he was waiting right by the entrance of the Dragon Slide; he had decided to not go down, it looked too fast, so he went back down to the front. I said, "I'm so proud of you, we've talked about what to do if you're lost, to stay right where you are so that I can find you!" Weston looked at me, looked at my sister, then looked back at me with BIG eyes and said, "I was lost? But I knew where I was!"

I knew I had let the cat in earlier tonight but I couldn't find her in any of her normal favorite sleeping spots. I went into the bathroom and there she was! Sleeping in the bathtub atop a pile of soaked towels from when Weston plugged up the toilet and it overflowed all over the floor. I didn't want to schlep them two blocks uphill to the laundry -- and now they are a cat bed. Meow!

Anyone else have snow? We got snow today! The kids were so excited, they were out front singing Jingle Bells while I was still slurping down coffee and getting ready to take them to school.

We had some spitty snow showers here, but nothing that has stuck. It was very cold this morning though waiting for the kids buses.

Also, if you have not done so, i ask all of you to please consider donating to the relief causes in the Philippines. The stories i have seen/heard coming from there are heart wrenching. Half of my family is from the Philippines, fortunately all of our relatives live in or near Manila and were not severely affected by the storm. If you can, please consider making a donation to the Red Cross, or Doctors without borders, or other similar charities. Big or small, every little bit helps. It would mean the world to me.

Kim, I was glad that you posted. I knew you had family there but I didn't want to intrude if you were like so many -- still waiting for answers. I know you are relieved that your loved ones were safe -- but I absolutely agree that the devastation is heart-wrenching! I cannot even fathom that type of widescale destruction or the absolute terror of all those families desperate for news and help.

I did put up some posts over the weekend through our social media channels and yesterday published an article with a list of charitable organizations that were already mobilizing aid but in need of donations. This list is in no way exhaustive but those that have earned approval by CharityWatch.org or CharityNavigator.org. If any of you know of others that should be considered please drop me a note.

In the meantime, all of those impacted will remain in my thoughts and prayers.

Yep. Had it for a few weeks. And it has been bloody cold. It's been going down to about -15 overnight. Of course, it doesn't stop the morons on the roads - driving too fast and following too close. Our $hitty weather lasts for 6 months of the year, still people forget from April to October how to drive.
