It's supposed to get really warm here too, up to 50. It snowed all morning, now it's settled into a coating of ice, so I'm hoping the rising temperatures will put an end to that!

I'll take it! I can see almost all the grass in front of my house, with patches of snow smattered about. The snow banks are all dirty and nasty looking and the dirt road is all gross and muddy. I hate it!

It was much better at -10F and 18 inches of snow and all that beautiful ice on the trees!

A good amount of our snow melted over the weekend. Friday afternoon/evening was so icy...I just about bit it at least a dozen times just walking to my car after work. It was better on Saturday, although I had to deal with flooded/slushy/icy lakefront paths during the 10K I ran. At least we had fun and looked cute (one of my friends made tutus for each of us ). Yesterday was 42 and sunny, and it was glorious lol!

Its been a pretty miserable few days here. Our power just came back on after being off for 36 hours. Luckily the temp hovered around 0 so we didnt have to worry about our pipes freezing or leave the house. DH was worried about the kids though (went down to -5 last night), so he borrowed a generator, and then managed to slice his hand open while setting it up, so not only was it cold, but he had to spend 5ish hours in the emergency room last night. I am just so happy it is all over

Everyone else have snow too? They closed the school at noon today and there is SO MUCH SNOW OUTSIDE!!! It's crazy. This morning it was the whipping-into-your-face kind of snow, oy.

By the way I have been doing some consulting with this fun website all about chefs, so I've been spending a lot of my free time in high-end restaurants in NYC in their kitchens talking to chefs and overseeing interviews with them and sometimes, on lucky days, eating their amazing food. It may lead to full time work, pending some investors, and in the meantime it's a great way to spend my time and to get some good credentials on my resume as I apply for more food media jobs. (Still waiting to hear back from the Food Network too, and also pitching a tv show around.)

Anyway, the kids are anticipating a snow day again tomorrow but I hope not, I've got things to do!

I missed this post somehow. I am sorry you had a rough couple of days. Our weather has been weird this year. From one extreme to the other. We had record braking lows, then highs so my tulips and roses started to bud, and now we are going to have record breaking lows again killing everything off.

This last big storm missed us. While we always average a lot of snow, each storm is hit or miss. Its all about if it goes out to sea before it gets this far north or not. This one went out to sea. We have a very thin snow cover back though because it snowed about 2 or 3 inches a couple of days ago and now the temps plummeted again. I'd love to get a snow day and 18 inches of snow though! Boston got it big time yesterday!

Kyla, sorry to here about all the winter weather troubles and your hubby's hand! I love our generator....it takes a lot of the worry out of losing power. Nothing wasted in the fridge, no frozen pipes and we all stay warm!

Anyone else snowed in? Thankfully DH had called in sick yesterday and was not home when all of the commotion happened. You would not believe the fuss that 1 1/2" snow has caused.
