No snow today, but day after day of bitter relentless cold.

No snow, no bitter cold, but we finally got a wee bit of rain. Not enough to make a real difference, less than a quarter inch, but it sure was nice to finally again feel some moisture on my skin when I was walking around.

Checking in with my weather report. No snow but bitter cold. I'd do anything to get another hefty snow storm but none in the near future.

DH' s school has been closed for the 3rd day in a row. I am not sure why this time has been so much worse than other times we have had snow here.

So we finally got up to 29 today *happy dance*!!! Of course, it snowed...but at least I got outside to run a couple of very slippery miles. Tomorrow is back down to the upper teens/low 20s, and we're supposed to get 8"-9" of snow Friday night into Saturday morning, with another storm coming in Tuesday evening with another 8".

So if you are friends with me on facebook, you've already seen these pictures but I'm still so fascinated that I want to keep talking about it so I'm going to share here too

Two days ago my DD Lillian was coming in the door from school and she spotted a Barred Owl in our backyard! I went and grabbed my camera to take pictures. I was so excited. I've always loved owls, ever since I got my Owl Zoobook as a little kid. But I had never seen one before in the wild! It was really exciting to catch a glimpse. She (I don't really know if she's a she) sat there long enough for us to admire her and get a few good pictures of her.

And then she returned yesterday! Same exact time of day, as the kids were coming home, same exact branch. I'm excited to see if she'll come back today too.

I love owls. That's so cool!

(That's funny, I've also been an owl freak since I was a little kid.)

Beautiful photos, Kim! Keep your cat in at night, because owls do like a kitty dinner if they can get one. My FIL had some barn owls nest in his barn (duh!) last year. They had six chicks and the kids loved watching them grow. Sadly, they all left, even the parents. They are fascinating animals.

Well, my second-favorite team didn't win the Super Bowl, and man, that was a tough game to watch! Funny how they were all talking about how the weather (the first outdoor cold weather Super Bowl ever - OMG!) might affect the game, and it ended up being colder at game time in both Seattle and Denver, than in East Rutherford!

We're all fighting a cold here. It's not too nasty but it's lingering around like crazy. Weston & DH have both had it for almost two weeks, and Tiven & I both fought it off last week only to host a comeback over the weekend. We all stayed home yesterday, and I napped for three hours. Sweet!

I am an owl freak too! We have a barn owl that lives in our tree, I will have find the pictures. DH and I love to go out and sit on the patio at dusk and watch her fly away, so cool and amazing when you see her wing span. Plus we always have owl pellets for the kids to dissect

My niece had a baby today! He weighs 9lbs and 5 oz and is 22 inches long, so he is HUGE! Just saw a picture and she looks sooo tired, and still like the little girl I used to baby sit. I dont feel old enough to be a great aunt, so we are going to have him call me Lisa the great
