Ugh, Bonita, I'm sorry. How the heck did everybody get pneumonia! I hope they all get better soon.
Juliet has been sick too, but just a slight fever & a cold. I'm keeping her home one more day, she still feels a little warm to me although she's happy and definitely bouncier.
Poor thing, I sent her to school on Monday because I was NOT missing the chance to interview Scott Conant (Food Network). Of course the school called in the afternoon and I had to send my husband to get her. D'oh.
Bonita sorry your kids are so sick. Cecilia had pneumonia earlier this year but the docs caught it early enough that it never really got that bad. Don't get me wrong, she looked and sounded horrible, but as far as penumonia goes I think it played out rather well. I hope your girls recover quickly.
Laurie hope Juliet feels better too!
I'm feeling very overwhelmed this week. Its just one of those weeks where everything seems to happen at once. Kids activities, a doc appointment for Aodhan, i promised to bake a cake tomorrow, i have to get a sweater I'm knitting for a baby shower done by this Sunday and work is getting very hectic. I'm feeling very frazzled already and its like there is no end in sight right now! Going to go stick my head in the sand somewhere.
Juliet is singing the "Do you want to build a snowman" song from Frozen so I think she is on the mend.
We are heading to Toronto on Saturday so I have MUCH to do, plus some work I need to get done, but I think I can balance it all out. I want to bake a batch of muffins before we go too, for my brothers & their families.
What's everyone up to these days. I know I complain about this all the time, I probably sound like a broken record but I am getting overwhelmed with our overscheduled lives!
You would think I could do something about it, yet.....I don't seem capable of doing something about it? Why?
I think its because i don't like saying no to the kids if I think the activities are good for them. I mean each individual kid is only involved in one or two things. Except Emma, she is way overscheduled...yet it doesnt' seem to phase her. She amazes me. She wants to do everything and she actually does do everything and pulls it off without missing a step or showing any signs of stress. My 12 year old has things more put together than i do.
Anyway, combine it all together and I'm just going insane. And hardly any of them have to be in the same place at the same time...all different places at the same time. I have too many kids! LOL
It's not the kids who are overscheduled, it's ME! Pretty much everything I volunteered for, or was committed to do, for the school or the kids or for work, things that should have been nicely scattered from early February through the end of April, it's all been delayed or bumped up or it turns out I'm the one who has to travel overnight, and it's ALL on me right now. Last week was insane, and this week is insane, and I'm trying really hard to keep next week from getting insane. And the really frustrating part is that I would never have committed to all of it if I had any idea it would all need to get done at the same time, kwim? Other people slacking is most of it. Our office move delay really couldn't be helped because we couldn't move into the new space until the other people were out, but it just added time & frustration on top of everything else that also got bumped. And allergies! There's so much dust flying around in here, I practically want to gouge my eyes out just to stop the itching & watering. Yuck.
David Letterman is retiring. Such great memories of watching him over the past thirty-two years!
Hey Stacey, I thought you might find this interesting. So i was talking to another parent the other day about the whole school choice thing. (It comes up often where I live...parents ask each other where their kids are going to go to high school) and she told me a story about her friend who's kid didn't get into the private school I mentioned earlier. As an alternative she wanted to send him to a different Christian High School. And her district said that they can't, due to separation of church and state.
So anyway, I thought you'd be pleased by the definitive confirmation that they won't send the kids to a religious school!
We just got back from our week away in Toronto. We had a fantastic time but we are also happy to be home!
While I was away, my first article went up on Bio.com. It's on the front page at the moment!
Laurie! You did a great job with this! Congrats! (FTR -- still front page! )
Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. Ours was packed and we're still working to recover. LOL
