Hey Bonita, I hope you get good answers soon, will be thinking of you. I agree, you have to push quite a bit when it comes to getting answers, and there are ways to do it fairly aggressively but still be nice and easy to deal with, it's all about getting the right person on your side. I've been through these things and you rarely have to sit and wait if you are more forceful about it.
My panel went great! I'm so surprised! I had to do some yoga/meditation breathing to stay calm up there but I had a lot of fun, met some really interesting people, and got a huge ego boost as people kept me busy all night afterwards, asking me questions and waiting their turn to speak to me, which was really surreal. I have never experienced that before. I was very nervous but people said I appeared extremely relaxed and I was funny and all that good stuff.
Laurie, so glad that went well. I didn't see it yesterday until after a time you were probably up on stage, but was going to say that I find using my yoga/hypnobabies/meditation style of breathing helps keep me calm in those kinds of situations. I've never been on a panel, but I'm frequently in a position of having to talk in front of a group of people in a room, sometimes needing to convince them of my POV, and just being *aware* of my breath is so calming.
David Letterman is retiring. Such great memories of watching him over the past thirty-two years!
Mind if I join in the chatter? Not sure where to start, so I'll just start from here.
Bonita - I didn't know about your medical issues until I read about it on the previous page! I only post on the Biggest Loser board (and here) now and don't even lurk on the other boards. Hoping for good results from the pelvic u/s. Crazy that you have to wait that long for the results.
Laurie - Since I'm coming in late to this thread I don't know any detail about your panel, but sounds like it went well, so congrats. Talking in front of large groups of people is no easy task for most people.
Tomorrow is moving day. Almost everyone who was supposed to help me with packing and cleaning is sick or seriously injured. Like 5 people canceled on me for health reasons. It is brutal. I am so tired. But almost there. I have two more days and then I can lie about and rest and recover! And play castle with DD.
Rob is doing ok. They haven't confirmed the bone infection yet as his white blood cell count is not up. But that is typical for this kind of thing apparently. So they are having the expert (who would deal with it if it were cancer) take one more look at all the tests and give his final say. So far he and 4 other doctors have all said it is most likely a bone infection. But even if it is he is looking at surgery and 6 months of antibiotics. yuck. But it is way better than the alternative.
Yikes Fuchia ~ I'm so sorry that you are dealing with this alone . Is today the day? I hope it goes well.
Sorry to all who are dealing with medical issues and I hope that you get resolution soon.
Laurie, congrats on the panel, what an accomplishment! Are you still in talks with the job you were considering?
And lisa, thats balls about that lawyer ~ WTF? What has happened with that? Can/have you gone to HR about it?
We are neck deep in getting ready for tomorrow. The eggs are dyed the baskets made the table set for 28 and the house has been cleaned over and over (cleaning while construction is going on is like shoveling while its still snowing). Today, I cook and try to keep the kids from messing up the house. My basement (which was supposed to be done March 10) is finally about 90% done ~ after I cracked the effing whip. There were about 10 guys here the past 2 days, and all that remains is the wet bar and some detail work. I'm in love with it. LOVE! My husband and I had a dance party down there last night ~ I cannot wait till its totally finished and they can deliver our furniture. I'm frustrated that it wont be ready to help us handle the crowd tomorrow but it just is what it is at this point.
