Yes, anything other than maple syrup is no better than just pouring sugar and dye directly onto ones food. A friend just made it on their property a few weeks back, I had no idea one could do it this far south (PA)? I always thought of it as an up north thing? The syrup wasn't the best, but it was pretty good, for free homemade local syrup!

I'm in invitation addressing hell, I'm throwing my husband a big party for his graduation. I'm not sure that I know what I'm getting into here, I've never hosted a party this large, especially at our home. Already starting to do weird voodoo stuff in hopes of a sunny day.

I'm leaving for vacation in like 10 days and busy coordinating the schedules of three kids with two sets of grandparents for a week, then a sitter for the second weekend. Its a lot.

I wish it would warm up around here, this low 40's and super windy crap is for the birds. All my poor oldest wants to do is play hockey in the driveway and the weather is just killing me. Getting drilled with a hockey ball in the stinging cold is the suck.

My FIL does it every year. He gets tons and we never have to buy it from the store.

Once FIL doesn't do it any longer I'm pretty certain one of us will have to take over.

Big parties are tough. Especially at your house. Tents, tents, tents!

It's been cold here too but we're warming up as of tomorrow. VERY windy!

We have a historic flour mill that sells the most delicious real maple syrup. Between that and the waffle mix I could be huge if I was eating gluten

My dad made syrup all the time growing up, so one year he decided to show us how. We tapped the trees and boil the syrup down. It was weeks worth of work for one small bottle.

Ugh on having to clean on your two days off. How did it go?

Bonita, so happy you got good news from the doc's office! Hope it goes smoothly with the wedding cake if you wind up doing it. Yuck on the division. Woo hoo for pretty blooms.

Melissa, glad the one party went well, good luck with the big one.

Laurie, have fun with the photography class! Hope you get the job you want, KUP. The muffins sound yummy. I bookmarked your Blog to go ck out later

Glad most of us enjoyed our Spring Break, agree that it didn't last long enough. We didn't go anywhere, DH had to work, but I still had a nice time with Hannah. It was cold all the way up until the last day, when we were finally able to go to the water park near the beach. She played while I read my book and worked on my tan.

Rob is still in hospital as they are still debating the diagnosis. Maybe today we might get some real news.
Yay for being moved, at least that part is over. Thinking of you and your DH *Hugs*Hope you get that dx soon.
LOL @ having to use the play fork and spoon for eggs. Hope you find the bag of cutlery!

Then we're driving down to Kingston (or the K-dot, as some of us call it) for a week and a half. I can't wait. Ben has never met his cousins and Claire's only really met them once when she was a toddler. It's going to be soooooooooooo great! The cousins, all boys, are 11, 6 and 6. My brother just had an awesome pool installed last year so we'll be doing lots of swimming and poolside socializing. I haven't had 2 weeks in a row off since Aug 2005. That's pathetic.
Sounds so fun! Be sure and share pics We haven't gone anywhere for vacation since 2008, I think? And we haven't had 2 wks off in a row in like for.ev.er. We are definitely due for one.

Laughing so hard about whiny Caillou. Hannah watched that in her earlier yrs, might explain why she still to this day tries the whiny routine. Notice I said, 'tries.' lol.

    Real maple syrup. YUM.

Excited here about my new job as a chef consultant (independent contractor). Lots of training/studying going on right now learning how to do cooking shows, etc., so I probably won't be around as much for awhile, either.

Hope the weather warms up soon for those of you up north. It hasn't been as warm down here in FL, either, for this time of year, and today it's been a soggy rainy mess so far.

DH came back and said he thought she was playing an April Fools joke on us, that he did not think she meant for me to do the whole reception, but she never came back and said that. We will see.

Good luck with your newest business adventure!
