For my last wedding my niece and I got married a couple days apart so we worked together on both cakes. My niece's cake was very elaborate with a fountain in the middle and everything. It can still be expensive to buy all the pillars and stuff you need to put it together depending on how many tiers there are.
I can not imagine making my own wedding cake. There were so many other details to take care of. I was exhausted as it was.

Funny. We did a very low-key, casual wedding. We had a pot luck picnic in the park afterwards! Only 11 guests. I loved every minute.

My wedding had over 200 guests. While I still enjoyed it, it was very draining.

So i took Cecilia to the doc. The urine test came back clean. She did a strep test, saying that some kids never complain of a sore throat but have other strange symptoms like upset stomachs and will have a positive strep test. Cecilia's strep test came back positive but I think that seems so weird. And Cecilia has been so sensitive to jarring movements today. Like i 'jiggle' on the toilet before i get her off (to shake off any excess pee) and when i did she got really upset and said that hurt her tummy.

Anyway on the way home Cecilia passed tremendous gas...several times. Since we've been home she seems a lot better. She's also had a BM. Perhaps she just had severe gas....allll morning and early afternoon. Which i think is a little odd especially since it was so debilitating, she didn't move off the couch for hours and would get really upset being upright. OH, and she did have a fever of 100.6 so there is definitely more than just gas going on.

Doctor also just said to keep an eye out to make sure the abdominal pain doesn't get worse in case it is appendicitis.

I'll probably give her the antibiotic, but part of me feels like it must have been false positive.

Sorry she has not been feeling well. Glad she is doing better now though!

I really don't understand the big wedding that takes most of your money and spare time for the better part of a year, and is emotionally draining on top of it all. That sounds like absolute hell to me. We planned to invite only about 75-80 people tops, and I set things up specifically to NOT have to deal with energy-sucking details. The flowers, I hired someone I knew did great work, said here's my budget & color scheme, do whatever you want that won't trigger my allergies, and have them at the restaurant by 3pm. The restaurant, I said, here's our budget, serve anything you want, any way you want, except no meat. The owner was delighted to have freedom to use whatever was in season or lowest cost instead of having to do whatever I demanded! Too bad my mom screwed everything up so we cancelled the wedding & never got to see how it all would have turned out....

I just think people have different ideas about weddings and should do whatever makes them happy. What's right for me isn't what's right for someone else. Some people have big wedding fantasies and it's worth it to them. Not my style, but it's all good...

The rapid strep test doesn't have as high a rate of false positives as it does false negatives, but it's still about 2% false positive. If she doesn't have any symptoms, personally, I'd wait for the culture test to come back before starting antibiotics.

Tiven sometimes has a bad bellyache in the morning from gas. She doesn't seem to pass gas at all when she's sleeping. (Weston OTOH is another story, tooting & tooting like he's had beans all day!) I make her to do this yoga pose when she complains about it: Yoga Exercise - Wind Relieving Pose (Pavanmuktasana) @ ABC-of-Yoga If that doesn't work, I do a belly massage like you do on newborn babies to help them pass gas.

I am glad we had a big formal wedding, but making our own cake would have been too much. I did stay on a budget. I think we paid around $3,000 for everything. My In-laws did all the food (This is what my SIL has in mind I think). My favorite part was the horse drawn carriage.
