I have seen one in the past, learned some really great stuff. My only advise is to go in knowing that most are pretty extreme in their views. The one I saw wanted me to get all my fillings replaced, give up most of my diet (she was vegan and thought that was the only way to eat) and never take any OTC meds. Like I said, I learned a lot about my body and health status, but I didnt take everything she said to heart. Oh and be prepared that every one I have ever met was very against vaccines

Thanks everyone. It's so funny because my daughter-in-law was complaining about having more heartburn this time and I told her it must be because she has more hair and it turned out to be true!

I have an update on Rob. He is going in for surgery on friday in Vancouver (a ferry ride away). They will be removing his femur from hip to mid thigh and replacing it with steel. We are claiming that he is getting an Adamantium leg and calling him Wolverine. He was very upset about it last week when we found out that the bone is not repairable. But after a few more days of pain he is counting the sleeps till he gets his new leg.

We don't know if there will be further treatments after as this cancer doesn't always respond to chemo. So this may be it. The prognosis is very good. Most people who have this kind (stage 1 chondrosarcoma) walk again without mobility aids. Some don't though and needs canes, crutches or a wheelchair. There is about a 60% chance of walking without a cane. Of the 100 surgery's of this kind the doc has done in the last 10 years only one has lost his leg due to post op infection. So the stats are good. Can't wait till friday. He will still be in pain, but at least it will decrease over time instead of the other way around.

So that is where we are at. I get to go over for the surgery and a night then am home to be with Kaiya. We are very lucky that my mom can take her for a few days while this all gets done. And we are also very lucky that his parents can be there for as long as needed and his daughter can go over for the weekend. We will have good people taking care of him. Now I just need to find something to distract myself for the 3-5 days he will be in hospital. I suspect my house might get really clean and unpacked!
