I got contacts in high school too, but I am older than almost everybody here (if not everybody!) and so they weren't as common or as easy to clean & deal with. I was 15 I think. If they were like they are now, earlier would be fine depending on the kid.

School goes till the end of June for us, but we are yanking Claire out for a 2-week vacay the first couple weeks in June. Bad, bad parents, I know Yesterday the provincial budget approvals were announced for new schools in the city and once again, my community is not getting its middle school. I am beyond pi$$ed. In one year's time if the budget announcement is the same - no middle school for us - then I am taking both my kids out of the public system altogether and enrolling them in private school. Our current designated middle school is a very long way away and has a terrible reputation. I refuse to send my children there. Since the schools are built on a three-year schedule that means that Claire will be in the 5th grade in 2017, so next year is our last chance for a new middle school. I never thought it would come to this. Our future school has been on the city's 10 year plan for 8 freaking years now and still the province won't approve funding for it. But, I am thankful that is a decision that my family won't have to suffer the consequences for. We are able to pay tuition to keep our children in a local school with an excellent reputation that they will attend through the 9th grade.

Our school goes until the end of June. For some reason, the last day always ends at 9:30 a.m....I really don't understand why. The kids go at 8:20 and finish at 9:30!

We always do a 4-day road trip right around then, we go to the same B&B in Pennsylvania every year. The kids can't wait.

The kids are super psyched for the plane ride. This will be the first one that Claire remembers and the actual first one for Ben. I don't think he recalls the one in utero . Ben will be flipping out with excitement. Me, not so much. I'm not a particularly good flyer. Actually, I white knuckle it the whole way. I've been on a whole lot of terrible flights. I have good reason.

I don't mind flying but it makes my husband crazy...he absolutely hates it. Poor guy.

Next summer we are taking the kids to London & Paris! We're saving for it now. . .we're all really excited.

Laurie you should message me where in PA you go, I'm curious if you will be near me And london and Paris ~ AWESOME. Lisa that is frustrating about the schools but great that you have options. Your vacation sounds fantastic ~ 2 weeks sounds like heaven.

Our disney cruise is coming up next month and will be the first time all three kids will be flying together, I'm looking forward to it as it won't be a bad flight, direct to Orlando, it will be fun to see their excitement. I don't mind flying, I just disappear into my book. My DH travels so much that he has status so we always get bumped up which makes travel easier for us, which is a nice perk He has been gone all week ~ but now that he is done school his weekends are ours again, it hasn't really sunk in as last weekend was his last weekend of school. His actual graduation ceremony is May 18 so the reality hasn't hit me yet.

Laurie~ mad props on getting yourself an in person interview ~ way to make your own luck, Mama! I hope you nail it.

Melis -- we go to New Providence, and spend a lot of time in Strasburg. Are you near there?

Thanks about the interview..it's now tomorrow at 11. Even if I don't get it I feel great about getting to this next step just by convincing them. As you all know, I like to try to talk people into things.

Today I took an early lunch to renew my vehicle registration. While I was in the area of the registry office I went to this lingerie place where they do bra fittings. I waited a while but I really wanted a fitting. I've never had one before. It was a shocking experience. Pleasant, but shocking nonetheless. The first shocking part is that I spent $100 on one bra. The second and more shocking part is that I'm not a 36 C. I'm a 36 F or, at the store owner said, a "36 FANTASTIC". Actually, lately I've been wearing a 38 C, but wore a 36 C for years. Well, the girls are strapped in now and holy $hit my boobs looked amazing under my shirt. I also feel like the dumb chick for not knowing until my 40s.

You're in good company. When I was working at Oxygen, we did a a piece about bra sizes and had these women from a famous NY bra shop come and talk about sizing. They said that 80% of women were wearing the wrong size! We had them walk around our studio & offices afterwards and they checked out everyone who wanted to be checked, and a ton of women were wearing the wrong size. I think it's very very common. I also think those of us with larger cup sizes try to deny it.

I see the same thing with shoe size...all these women in flip flops with their toes hanging over the edge (in NYC! on the dirty subway) because they don't want to buy a larger size.
