Do we really think having *more* guns out there is the right thing?

Potter--- this is the second ad hominem attack on me, I really don't see the point. And it is breaking the rules of this debate board.

It is not an ad hominem attack on you to say that I believe that the NRA is a powerful lobbying group, or that I believe that their members can get caught up in their rhetoric to the point of being totally unable to be logical about the idea of guns, i.e as though they were brainwashed.

I'd say that calling a member of PO "brainwashed" (as in "brainwashed like you") is an attack. Again, let's please keep it civil. We can talk about the power of a lobbying group, even to the point of calling their members "brainwashed" without having to throw in the "like you" part of it.

I apologize. I should have kept it more general. I meant that I believe that most NRA members are brainwashed and unable to have logical discourse about the gun control issue, and should not have implied that Rivergallery was. Rivergallery, forgive me. You are not brainwashed.

Funny thing is a know a lot of people who own guns and I don't think any of them are NRA members.

I have nothing to add to this debate at this point but this is just sooooooo close to hitting 400 posts that I wanted to help boost it. I don't think we've had a 400-post debate in a long time.

Oooo, Can I be the 400th post? I agree, that is the longest debate in a LONG time. I am debated out on the topic though. Not sure anyone is going to change their mind on this at this point.
