Do we really think having *more* guns out there is the right thing?
Gunfire rings in a deadly New Year across US - U.S. News
Nothing like starting a beautiful new year with reports of several shootings throughout the US.
It is not an ad hominem attack on you to say that I believe that the NRA is a powerful lobbying group, or that I believe that their members can get caught up in their rhetoric to the point of being totally unable to be logical about the idea of guns, i.e as though they were brainwashed.
I'd say that calling a member of PO "brainwashed" (as in "brainwashed like you") is an attack. Again, let's please keep it civil. We can talk about the power of a lobbying group, even to the point of calling their members "brainwashed" without having to throw in the "like you" part of it.

I apologize. I should have kept it more general. I meant that I believe that most NRA members are brainwashed and unable to have logical discourse about the gun control issue, and should not have implied that Rivergallery was. Rivergallery, forgive me. You are not brainwashed.
Funny thing is a know a lot of people who own guns and I don't think any of them are NRA members.

I never consider a difference of opinion in politics, in religion, in philosopy, as a cause for withdrawing from a friend. --Thomas Jefferson
I have nothing to add to this debate at this point but this is just sooooooo close to hitting 400 posts that I wanted to help boost it. I don't think we've had a 400-post debate in a long time.
David Letterman is retiring. Such great memories of watching him over the past thirty-two years!
