    Default Home security systems (NAD)

Guys, I am freaking out right now. Our yard was broken into this afternoon, while we were at home. Mike saw that the side gate was open so he went to the window and the guy was still in the yard. He ran outside and the guy ran into the back alley, where there was an accomplice, and there was a big altercation (I was so scared that one of them would pull a weapon on DH). I called 911, we have a couple of witnesses, the police came but in the end we decided not to file a report because the license plate came back stolen from an RV and as good as our descriptions were of the two guys the cops will never find them. Now I feel vulnerable. If these two guys were brazen enough to hit our house on a Saturday afternoon with both our vehicles parked outside and lots of people out and about in the neighbourhood maybe they'll come back and take revenge over the whole incident. I'm afraid. I have babies. We have a home alarm system that's a live two-way relay to the company and they call the police. It's not enough, IMO. Does anyone have video relay on their security system and would you recommend it? Right now I'd pay whatever it takes to keep my family and my home safe.

Thanks Bonita. I'm still shaking. I'm more worried about Mike than anything else. I KNOW he feels like he put his family's safety in jeopardy by storing stuff in our yard that make an easy target for theives. Thing is, our fence is super secure. The 5 gates all have sliding bolt locks that are not easily opened. I feel like they've been casing us for months. We're going to buy 5 padlocks for the gates so they can't be opened. That said, nothing will prevent someone from jumping over with the help of another. The fence is 6' 6" high.

They have video monitoring systems at Costco. We have one that is connected to our laptop. But one of my girlfriends has ADT with video monitoring that she can access with her smartphone

So sorry this is happening to you

I'm so sorry, that has to be really scary. Hopefully they learned what a stupid thing it was to do....since you guys reacted so quickly they probably won't be back. Hugs.

    (((((hugs))))))

I'd still file a report. You'd be surprised. Cops in NC found 2 men that robbed my DH (here in MA) based just on the sketch he did with the artist.

If we could have a security system here i'd totally go with one that has video capability.

Lisa I'm so sorry that this happened to you. I'm no help on the security system ~ we have one hardwired into our house but we have never activated it.

Check out AlarmForce. They are Canadian and offer top of the line alarm systems. You can even see who is at your door from your cell phone, if you're not home.
