Honey Boo Boo

Ok I had never watched this show because it looked really stupid from the commercials, and I don't like Toddlers & Tiaras so pretty much figured I wouldn't like it either. But a couple of FB friends had posted that they loved the show and it was soooo funny. So I noticed it was on the other night and decided to watch it just to see. Unfortunately it was just as annoying and sad as I figured it would be. Am I missing something?

If you have watched the show, do you think it is funny?

Do you think it is a good thing for a reality show to make fun of people, even if they don't really know or probably care that they are being made fun of?

That show sounds awful but so does most of what's on these days. I don't watch much TV in general, and I refuse to watch anything that specifically exploits kids. Kids shouldn't be on TV or in movies unless they are actors & have a therapist. Shame on that mom, shame on TLC, and shame on the American public for making a market for this kind of crap.

I'm pretty horrified by Toddlers & Tiaras. My mom was watching it while we were visiting her and I found it disturbing.

The making fun of people issue doesn't bother me in general -- that's why I watch (and love) America's Next Top Model AND why people watch Miss America, for the most part. Isn't that why people watch The Bachelor and all that stuff? But I agree that there's an issue when kids are involved. Maybe there should be stricter laws about putting kids on reality shows.

I agree with pretty much everything you said, Laurie. I find the new show awful, and honestly i'll be horrified if it gets enough viewers to stay on the air (of course i'm usually wrong, and have been horrified again and again while i watch the teen mom and toddlers tiaras shows get popular!)

Our oldest wanted to watch it with a friend so we let them, I shut it off half way through. The family is horribly disrespectful to each other and I think the whole show is all about giving the public a chance to make fun of this family

I've only seen snippets of the show on The Soup---and they were hysterical in a sad, I had no idea people like that existed kind of way (that clip came on right after the Maury clip of the mom trying to determine which baby daddy was really her child's daddy-- they tested 4 different guys that she thought might be the dad, and not one of them matched. ICK!)

The bits I saw were disturbing and sad. But I think the parents should be protecting their child and not exploiting them.

I haven't watched the show, but I've seen the family on Toddler's & Tiara's twice now (yes, I like that show lol). The mother promotes bad manners and disgusting habits and it really turned my stomach to watch the little girl behave the way she did.

I haven't watched it. It sounds sad.

I havent watched it yet but I too ahve seen tons on facebook saying how they love it. might have to try to watch an episode just to see... BUT I can't stand the toddlers and tiaras (or dance moms etc) either...
