I know that you WOH - what do you do?

I'm a litigation paralegal. I worked in a lawfirm for several years after graduation, but after Ben was born and mat leave was coming to an end I dreaded the thought of being downtown again and so far from the kids (not to mention the brutally loooonng day!). So I'm working on the other side now - the 'client' side. I'm in the in-house legal dept. at a global agricultural coporation.

Do you want any more children?

Well, before we had any kids we always talked about having three. It wasn't until Ben was born (literally, he was still attached by the cord and laying on my chest) that DH decided we were done. He said "We're done." Seriously. At first I was hurt and resentful about him just making that decision without at least waiting for a few months or more and then sitting down and calmly discussing it together. But now that the kids are a bit older I really do feel complete. I couldn't imagine having another baby.

How long have you been with your DH? How did you meet?

Mike and I met May 7, 2005. We had both been in long relationships that ended a year or two before we met, so we were pretty sure (at our advanced age ) what we wanted in a future partner. We got engaged 10 months after meeting, I went off the pill and got pg with DD a few months later. We got married when Claire was about 4 months - Aug 5/07. The rest is history. We actually met on lavalife. Hee hee.....

What is your favorite way to unwind?

Well, in my previous life I loved to cross stitch. I could sew for hours! Now I'm content with a hot bath and a glass of wine. We also spend a great deal of time camping, even in the winter. We have a share (with some of DH's relatives) in about 160 hectares of land about 1 1/2 hours away, and we try to get up there whenever possible. I just love to sit there on the swing and stare at the stars and northern lights. I know, lame.

    1. Oooh, I despise Caillou. He's too whiny. Not big on Barney or Toopy & Binoo either.

    2. Fave - don't really have any. As a kid I loved it when my dad would roast chestnuts in the fireplace. He'd use the shovel for the coals/ash. Good thing you don't eat the shell! I guess now I'd have to say spending xmas morning just us and the kids. No one is allowed over until at least 11 am. Least fave - I'd have to say every.xmas.eve.at.DH's.grandmother's.house. It's just not my thing. I hate dragging the kids all over town, late at night. It's exhausting and I'd rather be at home drinking rum and egg nog or Baileys. But DH's g-ma is 93, so I just shut up and tolerate. It's her thing.3.

Tim Horton's large double/single, toasted everything bagel with herb and garlic cream cheese, yogurt w/ fruit. Every morning.

What vehicle would you like to drive?

    Dream holiday destination?

Oh goodness. Like, how many places have I lived including apts? I'm gonna have to get a pen and paper! Okay, including apartments I've lived in 22 different places. Just houses, since I was born, 6. 3 back east w/ my family, and 3 here - one with my ex bf and 2 with DH.

We have 2 vehicles - a Dodge Grand Caravan and a GMC Sierra. I mostly drive the van since it's got the carseats in it and I drop off/pick up the kids.

Infiniti QX56, Mazda CX-9, any kind of luxury crossover with 3rd row seating! I know, very un-environmentally friendly.

My dream vacay would be to Bora Bora. I've only ever seen pictures but it looks like a dream. Little Palm Island Resort & Spa in the Florida Keys looks pretty awesome too. I'd also love love love to tour Greece and Egypt (but now's not really a great time to visit either country!!!)

I love to crochet and sew but HATE cross stitch. It takes forever with so little progress. Then it makes you blind with all of the counting.

How many children do you already have?

Have you ever been out of Canada?

    What is your dream vacation?

We have 2 children - Claire is 4 - will be 5 in March. Ben is 2 and will be 3 in May.

I wasn't born in Canada, actually. I was born in the UK (in Kent) but we moved to Canada when I was a toddler because there was more work opportunity for my dad. We moved to Kingston, ON and that's where I lived until I moved west in '98. I've been back to England several times but not since '95. I've been to the US a whole bunch of times, since Kingston's basically a border town, but other than that I really haven't travelled much. I'd love to, but I guess I never had the extra cash when I was single. Once the kids get a bit older we'd like to take the honeymoon we never had, and also take the kids to Disneyland.

Dream vacay is the same as above! Bora Bora.

Oh, and I agree with you Bonita about the counting. Many times I almost pitched the stupid thing in the trash because I'd lose count and make mistakes. Once I had to unpick about 500 stitches because I made a mistake counting!

Wow, Mary. Some of these are tough!

    Okay...

The most daring thing....My boyfriend and I had relations in a phonebooth downtown this one particular night years ago. The clubs had emptied out not long before so there were people still milling about. It was one of those phone booths that isn't a booth right to the ground. It's just a shelter for the phone with a little ledge inside. Ledge not so comfy. I can't believe I just confessed that.

Wonder of the World - I'd have to say Ainsworth Hot Springs. The caves are amazing. If you've been there, you know what I mean!

There is no single thing that annoys me above and beyond everything else, since there are many things that irk me. Bad drivers are right up there.

DH - love his huge heart and fun-loving personality. I love that he's a sensitive soul too. He cried watching the Lion King. I do not love when he pesters/nags me. He has a bad habit of hovering and telling me I should do this or that differently. Drives me batty. He also interrupts a lot. Hate that.

DD - What don't I love about that girl? She is soooooo kind and sweet. I love the way she loves and takes care of her little brother. And the funny things she says! She has me in stitches all the time. She's the ultimate sleep aid too. On the rare occasion she ends up in our bed, there's nothing more pacifying to me than the smell of her hair and listening to her breathe. Who doesn't love that? I guess the thing that is my biggest um, 'challenge' about her is the fact she's so hard-headed and stubborn. Her independent streak gets trying at times.

DS - He's just the funniest kid ever. I love that. I love watching him dance. He's also very very loving - giving out kisses and hugs all day long, and he adores his big sis. I love watching the two of them be so affectionate to each other. Not love - that kid can throw a tantrum like no other. It's quite a sight really. He gets so angry that while he's thrashing and screaming he'll also put his hand or arm in his mouth and bite himself. I hate that.
