But since we're still in the real world, I don't necessarily want to see these colleges shut down, but I don't think they should be able to kick out a student for normal natural behavior *AND* still expect to get that student's tuition. Colleges who do so shouldn't be able to accept federal loans, and college-supported scholarships should never require a morality clause.
I agree with Bonita that this view isn't logical. While I think that these schools are weird of course they have the right to exist. Kids who choose to go there should also choose to abide by their rules, and if they don't, should graciously accept the consequences.

Sorry, I was away & we lost our wi-fi part of the way through our trip.

I have no problem with these colleges existing, and I think if you agree to go there, and agree to their rules, they should be able to kick you out for breaking them.

But I think it should be illegal to specifically discriminate against homosexuality (vs. having rules about sexual conduct). And I personally cannot imagine making such a choice for myself, but as Melissa said, I was raised differently.

No. I don't think it should be illegal. I think ultimately, for dieters, it isn't long term helpful as they won't learn how to cope with the outside world and its temptations effectively.

And I think having specific anti-gay rules should be illegal, vs. anti-food rules.

I do agree with this. Just like I would not support a school excluding black or overweight students, I don't support a school excluding homosexual students. Want to ban all sex? Fine. Gay sex? Nope.

Again, I'd love to see the stats on how many kids go there BECAUSE they are gay and don't want to stand out in a "normal" environment where they are trying to stay closeted and don't want to have to pretend to date people of the opposite sex

At PCC and all of the other school that I am familiar with that are similar, Sex outside of marriage of any kind is prohibited. That includes Homosexuality and Heterosexuality. Schools vary in their rules about hand holding and kissing, but I know PCC does not allow any regardless of who it is between. In that sense, it is not discriminatory.

PCC also does not accept any federal funding including student loans for the express purpose then it is no longer anyone one's business what rules they have and what they do. The college I went to does accept some federal funding, and therefore has more federal guidelines they have to follow.

So can they have rules that black people can't go there, or Chinese people can't be friends with Jewish people? I think not.

Can a black person abstain from being black? Can a Chinese person have feelings that they are not Chinese but choose not to act on that feeling?

That's like saying to anybody who is straight to abstain from being straight. You still can't separate sexuality from intercourse, can you? I was straight long before I had sex for the first time.

A gay person can't abstain from being gay either. Being gay doesn't mean having sex.

It always comes back to this. That people CHOOSE to be marginalized and hated by bigoted people who deny them rights, bully them, and treat them like second class citizens. Totally logical. Totally. You no more chose to be straight than people choose to be gay and you know it. And if you DID, if you long to make sweet love to women, but you deny yourself that right and have forced yourself to be married to two different men and bear them children and have sex with them while all the time pining away to sleep with women, I applaud you for your ability to deny your true lesbian nature. I don't know many people with your sexual willpower or your self denial abilities.
