in light of GWB good qualities...

I had no idea he was such a good painter and that he enjoys it so much! And I could have never guessed this secret talent. I hardly know what to say. LOL maybe he chose the wrong field? He loves painting dogs and landscapes of his Texas home.

It doesn't really surprise me. I think GWB is a very classy guy, and his wife Laura too. They have done many things here in Texas to help people quietly in the background, without seeking media attention.

I'd say possibly a paint by numbers, but then someone would have to coach him a bit on the number side of things. Ooooh, I see a pile-on coming. Wink

Ok, I can see I am much to grumpy today. Why does it shock you? I think anyone who makes it to being elected POTUS has got to be a smart and talented individual. Even if you do not agree with their policies, running a country as big as the USA is an enormous job. Anyone who can make it through one day without a mental break down IMO deserves some credit. I do not agree with Obama, but I can agree that he must be an intelligent person.

I can't speak for her but I didn't think of artistic abilities. It seems like most people are wired for intellectual things like being the POTUS or artistic things and the fact that he was capable of this is surprising.

Another example, my friend is super smart. She's a pediatric endrocrinologist. Has little artistic ability.

I am far too grumpy too... lol

I like that you can go for that. That's very reasonable of you and I like people that can disagree, but be reasonable about it Wink

ITA with this. I'm brilliant :bigwink: but I couldn't draw more than a stick figure to save my life.

And I'm not sure that dog paintings really qualify as creative talent, but he seems like a nice guy. Good for him for keeping busy in his retirement.

Considering *my* abilities include a tulip, a funny face and a house he's definitely a step up from me.

Haha! Me too. I'm bright, but not an artistic cell in my body.... (I wish though!! It would be so fun to be able to do some of these things...)

I think you might ve right about being grumpy :).

When you think of bulky football players who seem to lack grace of anything but yet see them ballroom dancing and doing a fairly decent job, a normal person and expert judges may become surprised. It is not exactly what we expected to see and yet there it is. He did not strike me as the painting kind. Just also like for people's own reason Susan Boyle shocked everyone. I did not feel shocked by her but there have been other singers who shocked me. It happens.

Intelligence and artistic talent do not go hand in hand. Sometimes people get crazy lucky and have so much intellectual and artistic ability and some get unlucky and have nothing. We all have widely and wildly varying degrees. So to assume a potus would or should have artistic talent just because he got elected has no basis. Unless you at some point "discover" it there is zero way to know this side fact.

There was nothing critical in my posts.

I am sorry. If you happened to follow some of my other posts you could see I had a terrible morning/weekend and was an emotional basket case when I wrote that this morning. I should have stayed off the debate board because everything no matter how trivial seemed wrong at the time. I just got home from a nice Thanksgiving dinner at church that was a lot of fun and am feeling better about things this evening.

Thank you both. Somehow after having my tubes tied for 3 YEARS, I had gotten pregnant and miscarried. It has been a long emotional process.

So in an interesting turn of events, today's blood test showed my numbers did not drop. If fact they doubled. I have no idea what happened or what is going on.

Uh....Bonita, I don't know if this is what you want to hear, but it sounds to me like you're preggers! Your levels have doubled? Um....yeah, that doesn't happen with m/c's

I hope they did an ultrasound to rule out an ectopic pregnancy. Fingers crossed for you. :bighug:

They did not do an ultrasound. I do know an ectopic pg is still a possibility. It is so weird, everything that has happened. first, about a week and a half ago I noticed my breast were leaking (keep in mind my tubes have been tied for three years). I took a pg test and to my utter disbelief, it was faintly positive. I continued to get positive (Very faint) lines. On Sunday I had my darkest test. Then Sunday afternoon I started to cramp and spot. I continued to have what I thought was a miscarriage. Passing clots and everything (sorry TMI). I went to the doctor on Tuesday and had a blood test. That came back as a 6, so I had gotten pg after a tubal. Came back today to discuss what to do next and to retake the blood test just to make sure the levels were back down to zero. They called me a few hours later and said that my levels were back up to 12. I just do not know what to think. I know it not a new pg because we have not DTD since the first positive pg test.

My doctor does not want to see me for 2 weeks. I do not know what an ultrasound would show at this point or if I could get in with a new OB any faster.

I feel for you the waiting for something like this is horrible. When I got pregnant with my 2nd son I had a similar experience, bleeding, clots and all. I went to the ER and they pretty much told me that I was still pregnant but there was nothing they could do, to just go home and wait and see what happened. This was 20 years ago in a military hospital. The bleeding stopped after a few days but it was about a week before they could get me in for an ultrasound, and they said that they could see an empty sac so I must have been pregnant with twins and miscarried one. That week until the ultrasound was one of the longest in my life. I hope they can give you some answers soon.

I have not DTD in almost 2 weeks. We had a bad experience after at past miscarriage where the doctor (different doctor) blamed the m/c on us DTD, so DH has not been willing to DTD since I told him I was pg.

Thank you all for the support! :giveflower:

You had asked the question that maybe you should see a new obgyn to get seen quicker. If you have any pain or signs of ectopic at all, if I were you I'd go to the ER. I hope and pray you don't have an ectopic and that you get through this and all of its difficulties. I'd be a mess right now with so much worry, so my heart truly goes out to you. You must be feeling some stress. I hope for the best for you dear.

Thank you. It has been stressful, but I believe everything will be ok one way or the other. I have read up on the signs of a tubal pg, and have been paying attention to my body. If I start to have great pain, I will go to the hospital. Thankfully I live in the city, and live less than 5 miles from a major hospital.
