I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas.
Merry Christmas to all!!!
I hope everyone had a fabulous Christmas! Ours was a bit more chaotic than normal as we have remodeling going on in our home. I did not even start wrapping 'til Christmas Eve. Hopefully it will be done before the New Year. We had family come in town to visit which was nice but too short of time!
One 'funny' story - We invite Santa in our home each year. Two of my kids decided to set up cameras around the room to 'catch' Santa in the act. Unfortunately, it seems the batteries ran out RIGHT before Santa came in the room. One did manage to hear the sleigh bells and a hearty 'ho-ho-ho'. FTR, we did NOT know about those cameras until Christmas morning! *whew* Santa would have been upset!
Any plans for New Year's Eve?
Hope everyone had a great Christmas. We hosted and it was really nice.
We don't do anything big for New Year's Eve, but we make an extra nice dinner and dessert, letting the kids choose what they want. They asked for wings & potatoes, which my husband makes, and a cheesecake, which is my department.
I'm not certain what we are having for dinner on NYE but 99.9% certain we will be gathering together at home. We typically host a family game night marathon, listen to music and debate over top songs of the year, have treats and 'toast' at midnight with sparkling juice or beverage of choice. (Some chose hot chocolate last year which was a hit.)
We just got back from a week in NY. It was a great time of seeing friends and family.
We spent Christmas Eve with my side of the family and had a Mexican fiesta! Rice, beans, margaritas, tamales from some guy selling them on a street corner (but they were not from the regular guy selling them on the regular corner, he was sold out so my BIL had to go to the other guy on the other corner but I'm told they were just as delicious) and my sweet sister even made a pan of cheese enchiladas for us vegetarians. Christmas Day was with DH's side of the family and all there was for us to eat was mashed potatoes and salad. I'd asked if I should bring a vegetarian entree and was told someone else was bringing it, but they didn't. Oh well. The kids had tons of fun playing with cousins, we caught up with everyone, the weather was perfect, and traffic wasn't bad.
Our NYE tradition is to make a big spread of appetizers to munch all night, we walk around the neighborhood looking at holiday lights, play games, and if the kids are up to it, we walk up to a park on the hill to watch the fireworks. If they aren't up for it, then we watch the countdown on TV.
