Ugh I agree with the holiday birthdays. DH is Dec. 13th and DD2 is Jan. 6. I feel like it's non stop until after this weekend.

I get crushed in Jan. My niece is Dec 27, SIL Dec 30, Brother and Sister have the same birthday (but are not Twins) on Jan 15, DH on Jan 31, then it heads right into our Anny on Feb 9, first kid on Feb 13 and Valentines day on the 14. Its like the death march of gifts from Christmas.

Can you believe it? I wish she could stay two for just a little longer, i just love this stage.

haha Kim..I've been waiting for 3 and hoping it rids of terrible 2's. She's turning into such an awesome little girl. Very sassy and very smart. She kills me. Best surprise of my life.

Someone just asked me to borrow money as they overspent at Christmas. Sigh.

I'm probably in the minority, because I'm sure we go overboard. I don't buy them a hundred things or anything, but more than most here I think. I don't think it will damage or destroy them for life. It was just what my parents did, and I'm not spoiled or thinking that I will get something extravagent from everyone forever. Tom and I don't usually buy much for each other.

I get the kids one nice thing (this year marcus got an xbox 360, and megan got an ipad). These are things that the kids would have normally gotten to use at some point, and they will get their money's worth. Then we got them a few outfits each, and a couple board games for both. We do stockings too, but I try not to buy much candy, it's mostly little fun things (like nail polish and bath things and little 'toys' - toys for my kids are not little kid toys so much anymore)

That made our christmas very expensive really, but as they've grown, so has the bill. When they were little, I would buy about the same amount, but cute toys are cheaper than electronics. ALOT cheaper than electronics...

This was the first year that I didn't really buy any toys. Honestly, I cried a bit. My babies can NOT be so old!! lol And I had hoped for a baby 3 years ago, and they are going to be so old by the time they get a little brother or sister! I miss buying those things for small ones.


ETA: Oh, and i feel the need to add that we do pretty well and are comfortable. We would not have been irresponsible and spent our rent or grocery money on presents. If we couldn't afford it, we wouldn't do it!

I will say if our budget allowed it, i would probably spend more than i do. Not a ton more....but a little bit more. Like Legos. I very often would love to get them each a lego set, or at least a few of them a Lego set, but i often skip over them because they are so friggin expensive.

My kids like Legos, but they don't LOVE them....so they are sacrificed.

Now when i was a kid, Legos were the highlight of my Christmas morning.

I shop sales all year instead of waiting til the month before Christmas and get things when they are cheap, so my kids tend to get a lot of presents but I don't spend that much money.

I buy all at once like two weeks before christmas but do well with deals on Amazon and am a Prime member so never pay for shipping. I used to be religious about only buying from local stores but that was before the 21 month death march of grad school with a constantly traveling husband began......next year I will get back to that but these past two years its been a godsend. We could spend more but I like keeping it simple.
