Its a sad day in our country when in one thread we go from hearing how a woman in the service is more likely to be sexually assaulted by her fellow soldiers than killed by enemy fire, then read that our military is willing to disobey a direct order from their commander in chief en masse. I will certainly not be pushing any of my children towards the service, thats for sure. Maybe one of the service academies, but I think that you find a different level of understanding of loyalty, integrity etc coming out of one of those institutions.
I guess we could have seen this coming though based upon our recruitment practices over the past 40 years or so. Thats probably a whole different debate.
I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens. The economy is tough. If police officers and sheriffs and whatnot really want to give up their jobs because they refuse to uphold the law, I'm sure that there are plenty of people willing and grateful to stand in for them.
