ON BASE, not at the facility where the shooting took place. That is like saying there are police officers in the city. You realize that a base is like a small city right?

Fort Hood, a home for thousands - CNN

Yes, there were armed police officers on base. You stated that the shooter knew that no one on base could have a gun. That was untrue.

No I said the soldiers on base were not allowed to carry a gun. Which they weren't. He knew that no one would have a gun at the processing center where he went. I'm sure he knew there were police officers somewhere on base, but he also knew it would take them awhile to get there just like any other city.

Did they have armed guards at this school? Lone Star College Shooting: Multiple People Shot At Texas College Campus I will be keeping all of the victims and their families in my thoughts and prayers.

At some point are you EVER going to say "ENOUGH" Those of you who continue to argue for no limits on guns? It is insanity.

The many gun debates have taken so many twist and turns I forget. Are you only for gun control and not for increased security as well, or for both?

Don't think it would have mattered since this was 2 men who decided to shoot at each other and had nothing to do with the other people there. Wierd the fact that it was a Gun Free Zone didn't stop them from taking guns there.

I guess banning AR-15s would have helped.

To sum this all up IMO, Should there be some uniform gun laws? yes. Should you need a background check before buying a gun? sure. Is it necessary for a private individual to have a gun that can kill 100 people a minute? No. Is it also prudent to look into security? Yes. Medal detectors, Leaving doors locked on the outside, having visitors sign in at the desk, looking into the possibility of a guard, and other security measures are also a good idea. Because that you will never be able to rid the world of all its guns, school security is also going to be necessary. Looking to mental health and violent video games IMO will also help. It can not be just a "Ban all the guns and then we will not have any more problems" type of answer. All of the pieces of the puzzle need to work together. IMO, it will never work to ONLY regulate guns.

I'm sure that they feel that it had a lot to do with them once the bullets entered their bodies, don't you?
