NYT's review of Guy Fieri's new restaurant
The entire review consists of 34 questions such as, "Did you notice that the menu was an unreliable predictor of what actually came to the table?" "Were you struck by how very far from awesome the Awesome Pretzel Chicken Tenders are?" and "Any idea why [the watermelon margarita] tastes like some combination of radiator fluid and formaldehyde?"
Guy Fieri went on The Today Show this morning (video link here) to respond. He called the review ?ridiculous? and ?overboard? and that ?it really seemed like there was another agenda.?
I've only eaten at a Guy Fieri restaurant once, Johnny Garlic's in Roseville tagging along with a group of my sister's friends, and I have to say that review sounds pretty spot-on with what I experienced. The food was lousy, the service was inattentive, two things we ordered didn't show up at all, and then the waiter argued with us when we asked to have those items removed from the bill! And there was a chunk of chicken on my vegetarian pizza. :puke2:
There seem to be two trains of thought: one is that the reviewer just shouldn't have written such a horribly bad review, that he could have hinted at problems without being so over the top; the second is that Guy Fieri is so over the top, that he kind of deserves an over the top review. Your thoughts?
