DH and I were just talking. Maybe we will wait until next Fall. DH gets a Fall break so we could go at a non peak time and we would have a year to save up spending money. The resort tickets do not expire for a year so we could wait until he has more time off. Summer would work out schedule wise, but not with the heat and being super busy.
If DW is anything like DL go during Christmas time. It is so amazing! The Haunted Mansion is decorated as The Nightmare Before Christmas. It's just so much fun!
I do love Disney but not sure I'm a "freak" about it, lol.
The summer is super hot and humid here. Couple that with insane Disney crowds and you just might be miserable. Late September/early October is a nice time to go. We go every year for the Mickey's Not so Scary Halloween Party. The tickets to the Magic Kingdom are significantly cheaper, there isn't much of a crowd, you get to see tons of characters and do "special" things like attend dance parties and trick-or-treat. It truly is awesome and the best way to see the Magic Kingdom in my opinion. The weather during that time is pleasant - cool in the morning and evenings but warm (and not too humid) during the day. The kids could still enjoy the pool and a beach trip would be great too. There's tons to do in central FL besides Disney.
Are the tickets to Magic Kingdom different?
Disney is the most crowded at Christmas time, so you really would need a good plan and hit the park as soon as it opens if you want to ride the popular rides. We went at the end of August, and it was really hot. We managed by going to the parks as soon as they opened, and rode all the cool rides first thing in the morning. We'd leave the park around noonish and go back to the hotel to swim. We'd head back out to the parks again around 4ish. A lot of the attractions are indoors, too. We had a great time despite the heat.
This site helped us out a lot:
Free Disney World Crowd Calendars, Ride Reviews, Resort Reviews, Restaurant Reviews, and More
The guy who writes this site is hilarious, try reading some of his reviews of restaurants and such. His park info and crowd level calendar was spot on for us. He's got month by month calendars that tell you the best park to visit for each day.
Thank you for the advice. DH will either take some personal days in like February or we will wait for his next Fall break.
If you guys aren't into football, Super Bowl Sunday is a great day to go.
