Our neighbors across the street lost power, so we have houseguests for a while! Funny, this happened last Halloween too. Good thing we like them so much.

My sister is without power and she was told by a neighbor that the estimate is days before they get it back. Her house didn't suffer any bad damage aside from some significant flooding in the basement, which they expected. She said walking around some other houses in her town have some serious damage.

Hope you are doing all right where you are!

My family is about to get pounded. My parents are right on the lake so they expect flooding as usual. My brother has a generator so that's good, but my parents don't. I thought that maybe they would have learned a few lessons after the ice storm in '98, but I guess not.

It's all good here. Lights flickered but did not lose power. Overly exaggerated newscasts for this area.

Glad you are good. I wondered about you being down there. It was certainly overly exaggerated here too... but the pics of New York and New Jersey are scary!

Hi all. We still have no power! I am at the office today for the first time, the trains are finally running again. We are fine but COLD. We have hot water, we have a gas stove, and some local businesses are open, so we are okay, but most of the time I have nothing but my iPhone. Cell service is spotty.

It's very nice to be at the office but I'm not comfortable being away from the kids for the whole day...definitely leaving early.

All my friends and family in the NYC/NJ area are being told they won't be getting their power back until the 9th or 10th at the earliest! Laurie, i hope you are luckier and get it back soon!

They are telling us the 9th but they're telling everyone that I think, just in case. Some people in our neighborhood have gotten theirs back but no one on our street yet.
