    Default OT- Thanksgiving Recipe Thread!

    Help a planner who got surprised that her family is coming to her for Thanksgiving out!!! The more fat/sugar/crap in it the better- have to get serious about weight loss after then! The only thing I know I'm having is the Turkey but need help with everything else.

    Hi Lillie!

    We actually have a lot of really great recipes onsite (Kudos to Julie / Jules for finding/compiling/writing.) Here are some that may help you:

    A Traditional Thanksgiving Feast (Includes recipes for Roasted Butternut and Pear Salad, Perfect Baked Turkey,Aunt Helen's Corn Bread Stuffing, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Turkey Gravy, Green bean casserole, Grandma's dinner rolls, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie.)


    If you prefer something with a Southwestern flair:

    Southwest Thanksgiving feast and countdown (Includes recipes for Spicy Pumpkin Soup with Toasted Pepitas and a light and fruity Aragula Salad with Mangos and Avocados; Ancho-Chili Rubbed Turkey with Ancho gravy; Cumin refrigerator rolls; calabacitas; Chipotle Mashed Sweet Potatoes, & Nopales and Beet salad. Desserts: Apple and Cinnamon Empanadas or Caramel-topped pumpkin flan.

    There is also this one:
    Savory sweet potatoes with sausage and peppers

    Last year I made a fantastic pumpkin cheesecake. . .will have to dig for the recipe as that was pre-blog! I'll try to find it, it turned out great.

    I have go to favorite recipes all from Allrecipes.com

    Sweet Dinner Rolls
    Citrus Brine Turkey
    Sweet Potato Casserole with Rum
    -
    My family also likes garlic mashed potatoes, and stuffing right from the box, with gravy, and cranberry sauce from the can.

    Making my own pumpkin pie from scratch this year.. should be yummy!

    I have been assigned to make green bean casserole this year, so I think I'm going to do it up Alton Brown style.
