OT: Thread for Melissa (Potter75)

Thanks so much all. Stacey they did have him tested for a clotting disorder and it was negative. He lost half of his blood volume, turns out because his tonsils and adenoids were SO huge there were huge pockets back there behind the scabs ~ these huge membranous not scar tissue but like scar tissue like things were forming ~ and because he was drinking so little despite our best efforts the scabs got larger. When that thing went it went in style. Its been traumatic. I need some therapy man, I've just never so truly contemplated one of my children dying or been in such a near death situation. I keep replaying it in my head and focusing on what could have happened instead of just being grateful that in a few weeks he will be just fine. To feel your little one lose consciousness in your arms in a sea of blood, well, I truly hope that none of you ever have to go there. Again, thank each of you for the kind words and prayers.

Melissa, so glad this is behind you. I hope everything just continues to improve from here on out for Jake. Hope Luke and Julia are okay too, i know you said they were there. It must have been terrifying for them...and of course you and Nate. Parenting is such scary scary stuff. I'm overwhelmed thinking about the ordeal you've been through and the type of strength parents have to have to mentally get through these things. Hugs, Mama

I do the same thing, and I just beat myself over the head. I even sometimes think of situations beforehand. Like Ben had day 'surgery' yesterday - an upper endoscopy with several biopsies. It was very quick and the GI talked to us saying he's fine and in recovery and probably waking up right now. Then, like 2 HOURS goes by and the beeper isn't going off and I'm like WTF is going on????? Imagining all these scary situations going on back in the post op area. Jeez, I get nuts thinking about the kids sometimes. Turns out he just woke up from the anesthetic and decided to have a nice long nap :)

So so so relieved that Jake is going to be fine. But what a terrifying ordeal. I just simply can't imagine what you went through.

I am so relieved, I cannot IMAGINE going through that. My heart dropped to my stomach when I read it the first time. My heart goes out to you & your family. . .just hold each other tightly and remember how lucky you are. The terror of it must have been completely overwhelming. So grateful he is okay!!!

I will tell you know that a month out from surgery, our Miles is like a new kid. Turns out his T & A's kept him from sleeping well and he was never rested. Now he eats so much more and sleeps more soundly-- and his voice changed once the swelling went away-- he really is a different kid. Worth that painful healing and I hope the same is true for you and Jake. That (eventually) this ordeal seems worth it.

We had the same thing with our oldest. She was 6 and said about a month out of surgery "I had a dream last night, I have never had a dream" She never slept well, so after surgery she was a different kid

So scary, been praying. Glad he is out of the woods, hope he heals now quickly.

Melissa - I know I already said this on FB, but I am soooooo relieved that Jake is doing so much better. I was traveling when I first heard, and I literally checked your FB page every time I was on a break or on the ground. Your family has been in my thoughts so much lately, and I'm so so relieved that Jake is okay. I can't imagine how terrifying that must have been for you and for your family.
