Default Parents have their own kids arrested after busting a party

Two Connecticut sisters are in trouble with police after their parents reportedly had them arrested for throwing a party at their home.

It was the third get-together that the girls -- who are 15 and 16 years old, and attend Glastonbury High School just outside of Hartford, Conn. ? hosted when their parents went away over the Columbus Day weekend, with up to 20 people attending each night, The Hartford Courant reported this week.

But they were busted when their parents returned home on Sunday, instead of Monday as planned, police said.

Some of the party goers fled from the house, but others remained inside and that?s when the parents called the police -- "the right thing to do," agent James Kennedy of the Glastonbury Police told the newspaper.

The teens face charges of permitting a minor to possess alcohol, according to The Hartford Courant. Their names have not been released because of their ages.

Do you think the parents did the right thing?

What do you think? Did the parents do the right thing? Seeing that this was the THIRD party that these girls have thrown when their parents went away (that the parents know of...) I think the better thing to do would have been to NOT go away and leave those two alone.

It might be the only thing those parents could do to get through to their children that what they are doing is not ok.

Parenting fail. If my kids did this once there certainly wouldn't be a 2nd or 3rd time. Even if I had maybe thought they could try being again on their own..the 2nd party would have been it. I would either get someone to stay with them or find them a place to stay if I had to go away without them. Or they would be coming with me if possible.

I cant believe the parents left them after the 2nd party. I can see letting them try again after 1 party but after that no way. I dont know if I agree with calling the police, but I do think these kids need a wake up call, and obviously the parents are not doing the kids any favors

As parents you want to trust your children. And I bet a lot of you did crazy stuff and you were just lucky to not get caught. Would you say your parents failed anytime you disappointed them?

Anyway, if I were the parents, I would have hired a babysitter or brought them along. If those weren't possible, then I guess I wouldn't have went away.

I'm not sure I would call the cops.

I am curious where the "never call the cops on your own child" line is drawn? If you witness your child murdering someone would you call the cops or help them cover it up? At what point would you call the cops on your own child?

I am sure many parenting fails happened before they got to this point.

I read this to mean there was 3 parties on this one weekend. As in they had friends over Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night. Someone must have alerted the parents, so they came home early and when the partiers refused to leave, called the cops. I dont think this is a parenting fail at all. I totally agree with what these parents did.
