Plus-size, double-chinned Barbie sparking controversial debate - BizPac Review
Good idea? Bad idea?
Oh lord. Can't they just make NORMAL sized dolls? Not super skinny, not "plus size" (although this actually sounds like a joke with the double chin), just an average size kind of thing.
I never liked dolls anyway, I was more of a stuffed animal kid. My daughter likes dolls but for her it's all about their hair.
I would love to see a normal sized Barbie, but I also dont think the standard Barbie is a huge deal either. I may be less concerned then most people anyways because none of my girls were into Barbie. Mia asked for a Barbie dream house once and I was shocked because she doesnt really play with Barbies. When she got it she uses if for an animal hospital.
Yeah, I agree that normal sized would be best. But I also don't care if they make the skinny ones, or the plus sized ones. I just can't work up any care over Barbie's dress size. LOL
I think there are much bigger issues than Barbie to fret over too.
So who would actually buy these Barbies? Do you think even someone with an overweight child would buy one? Wouldn't it be a little insulting to bring home a Barbie for your little girl that says.... Here is a Barbie that is fat like you? That would be great for a child's self esteem if her friends get skinny Barbies and she gets a fat one. This isn't a Barbie for children it is a Barbie for politically correct adults that want to make a statement.
It's no more a good idea or bad idea than the regular Barbie. If you let your kid play with a doll that resembles a fake-boobed, bleach-blond 6-foot-tall anorexic who wears no footwear except hooker heels, you likely aren't presenting it as a role model for her to aspire to, so there shouldn't be any problem with your kid playing with a doll that resembles a morbidly obese person. They are just toys.
They left in the hooker heels bleach-blonde hair and skanky dress.
I do not think it is necessary to go overboard or give a double chin, but there is nothing wrong with making a more realistic doll. Barbie features are not humanly possible. It is no more healthy to look like Barbie than it is to be morbidly obese.
I think the whole barbie doll is just creepy. I'm not a fan of her or any of the other weird dolls out there. Then to go and play around with weight I think is much I think. I wouldn't buy it. I also wouldn't buy the other.
