Request President accept terrorist demands to save your life?

Would you ask the President to meet the demands of terrorists if you were kidnapped or do you think you'd sacrifice your life without asking?

I couldn't live with myself knowing that someone else was harmed instead of me, which is what would likely happen if their demands were met. Even if they just demanded money they would use that money to buy bombs or weapons that would hurt other people. I would hope that they would try to free me using military means if possible.

ETA: Though I can't really say that I would never ask for it, since when someone is beating you it is hard to keep from saying whatever they want you to.

I wouldn't expect the US to give into those demands to save my life. Meeting those demands would most likely cause the harm of many, many other people vs. my one life.

I can say from the safety of my living room that I would not ask for help, but I am not in that situation right now and there is no way to know what I would do in that situation.

Who knows how I'd respond to repeated torture and being held captive-- I'd probably ask for anything that those imprisoning me told me to ask for. Scary stuff.

This. Doesn't mean I wouldn't do the begging, I just wouldn't expect it to accomplish anything.

I'd be begging like a baby. No shame. I think that we all have these faux honor codes that we believe in 100% rhetorically, but when push comes to shove I want to live to see my babies grow up. Period.

I'm glad someone else admits this. I feel the same way. I'm pretty sure the rest of the people would do this exact thing as well, but rather chose what sounds best now.

I would love to say I would think of all the other people but you know what...I won't. I *will* think of me first. I'm human.

I guess I wouldn't expect it to ever happen but I would have to try.
