A school counselor shaved off kid's sports' themed haircut
A school counselor reportedly shaved off a child?s Miami Heat-themed hairdo against a parent?s wishes
You have to go to the link to see the image of the haircut and to learn more of the story. Short version: Dad is a barber (obviously quite talented in my opinion.) Over the winter break he gave his son (age 11) a Miami Heat themed haircut in preparation for taking him to his first NBA game.
The son returned to the 1st day of school with the haircut (probably wanting to show it off to his friends.) School administration determined that it was a distraction and against the rules... pulling kid out of class. Dad was called. He said that he would cut the child's hair after school to comply with school regulations. School counselor and teacher talked with the kid and since he did not want to miss class with an in-school suspension, he (11 yr old) agreed to allow school counselor to shave his head.
Debate: Do you agree that school administration should have this right with your child -- especially if you objected and had already agreed to take care of it yourself professionally? Do you believe that an 11 yr old is able to give this type of permission?
