The cones were directing traffic into them.

The cones were removed due to the impending blizzard out there that dumped several feet of snow and hwy workers needed full access to try and keep roads clear not because our Whiney governor took issues with them being there. It simply amazes me the lies and lengths people are willing to go to in an attempt to make other people look bad simply because they don't share the same beliefs as them. A country filled with sheeple is not a country I want to live in.
Of course I'm sure a bus full of people just decided to lie for no reason, and they moved the cones to block the pullout just for that picture. The article stated that they moved them for the snowstorm, no one said any different. Not sure how that makes it better that they moved them for the snowstorm and not to allow access. It's weird how they never needed cones there to direct traffic before even in the middle of tourist season and all of a sudden they need them there now in October?

Look closely at the picture please you can see that the cones are going back into the flow of traffic....they aren't blocking anything. As far as not needing them it really isn't that hard to figure out why...the monument has a HUGE parking lot that tourists can use when the monument is OPEN.

No no need to worry though our amazing governor has found extra money laying around to reopen the monument and pay state employees to run. Never mind the fact that, that extra money laying around came from cutting public education and Medicaid in this fine state of ours.

Seriously? How many bills has Reid blocked from a vote after they passed the House? Bills were passed to reopen most of the government but he won't allow votes on those. How many rules did they go around to pass Obamacare in the first place? Obama is the one acting like a child and refusing to negotiate.

And you expect me to be concerned about this minor rule change for something that probably wouldn't pass anyway? Ya kind of grasping at straws.

Yes I am looking at the picture. I can see where the sidewalk ends and the opening into the parking lot blocked off by cones. My sister has a tour bus. You expect a bus to be able to come around one of those hairpin turns and be able to turn into a small opening where they removed a couple cones to get in? Those buses need a lot of space to maneuver. Sorry I just don't buy that the governor and the secretary of tourism and a bus full of people that couldn't pull over to take pictures are just making a big stink about something that didn't happen.

Oi. Democrats are right for not playing this game. If republicans want little kids to participate in clincial trials and didn't really want a shutdown then pass a clean bill already
I think that you said it best. The rest of what is happening now is all stagecraft and posturing. The shutdown is sucky, I think everyone agrees about that. It is just that the tactic now is to say loud and often that it's everyone else's doing. This seems to be a common refrain with the tea-party and the conservative media. Repeat it until it becomes the truth.

What keeps running through my head is this:

What sort of negotiation are the Republicans who caused the shutdown looking for. I mean, what will appease them? For real, those of you who are dug in on the right, what is a reasonable way to settle this? As far as I can tell ACA is law. It's gone to the supreme court where it was ruled to be constitutional. That is the process that we have in place. So what is the plan?

Well the current proposal is to suspend the medical device tax for two years and remove the extra subsidy for Congress that they put in so they didn't have to pay their own insurance under Obamacare. They have already caved on everything else.

    Totally unreasonable, right?

I do think that the shut down was not the right answer, but my understanding is that in the balance of power, Congress has the power to fund or not fund things regardless if the other branches approve or not. That is how the power is divided. I still believe if it was a different law or issue such as banning all abortions for any reason or forcing every American to carry a gun, Democrats would not bat an eye over digging their heals in like the republicans are doing now. Personally, I would not have chose this as a hill to die on, but Constitutionally I believe their right is there.

From my POV, the republicans are willing to compromise and try to meet in the middle. The Democrats have said "My way or no way". I do not think this will end until the Democrats come out willing to give in at least something.
