Valentines for kids aren't big here, but I made the little heart shaped crayons for DS's friends at daycare. They were actually quite quick and easy and I just printed some strips which said 'you make my day bright' and popped them in the pockets where notes go. I think two people have collected them so far but both were excited and surprised and thought it was so cute. I also try to do Christmas cards for all the kids and this year will find an age appropriate craft to do with DS to add to them.

Candy was prohibited at Jace's school for Vday, thank goodness!! And actually they did make heart shaped card collectors and got to decorate them. Jace drew a picture of himself and the words, "TEX ME" (Text me). I started laughing so hard when I read that, lol!

I hate all the candy, but like the ones that seemed to take some effort. We made salt dough necklaces this year, and in the past have made home made Valentines from dollar store hearts and stickers. I always insist the kids are involved though. I am not doing 50 crafts all by myself!

My favorite DD got this year was a coloring page for her to colour, printed on the computer. DS got a couple of home made ones too.

Like I said though, I love Valentines day, so I am willing to build up to it and make the effort with my kids during the week before. I think that the cardboard ones from the store are just fine and dandy if you arent as into it. I actually just hate when people give my kids candy......I end up dealing with it for the next 3 weeks, and that sucks.

What they came home with....almost all candy and a few tattoos. Someone else had gone through the trouble of crating little heart shaped multi-colored crayons (they looked home grown) and doing some hand made cards. Others built paper hearts with legs and arms made out of sleeves of little candy balls. Even Cecilia...who is only 3, came home with a boatload of candy from her card swap at my DCP's house. I sent her to daycare with just cards...some of them home made because i ran out...with nothing attached to them. I mean some of the kids there with her are babies!

Anyway...we were definitely outliars not including candy
Man! Is it just me or does kid centered stuff get more elaborate all of the time? I think I'm ready to take a stand. Maybe I'm just lazy, but I just don't see why everything has to be a big freakin' to do. I blame Pinterest *shakes her fist at Pinterest*.

    Don't blame my delicious Pinterest!

But I agree, it's way over the top and I do NOT have time for all that stuff, I just don't. I'm just trying to get through the day.

Robbie gave out pencils and erasers with a little paper heart that he wrote "from Robbie" on. I got the pencils and erasers at the dollar store for 30/$1, put them in baggies and was done. Robbie's school does not allow candy at any time although some of the parents ignored that.
