What would Jesus drive?

What would Jesus drive? Pope Francis tells priests to buy ?humble? cars.

Pope Francis said on Saturday it pained him to see priests driving flashy cars, and told them to pick something more ?humble?.

As part of his drive to make the Catholic Church more austere and focus on the poor, Francis told young and trainee priests and nuns from around the world that having the latest smartphone or fashion accessory was not the route to happiness.

?It hurts me when I see a priest or a nun with the latest model car, you can?t do this,? he said.

?A car is necessary to do a lot of work, but please, choose a more humble one. If you like the fancy one, just think about how many children are dying of hunger in the world,? he said.

Since succeeding Pope Benedict in March, the former cardinal Jorge Bergoglio of Argentina has eschewed some of the more ostentatious trappings of his office and has chosen to live in a Vatican guest house rather than the opulent papal apartments.

The ANSA news agency said the pope?s car of choice for moving around the walled Vatican City was a compact Ford Focus.

I'm loving this new Pope! What do you think? Personally, I think Jesus would probably choose a biofuel engine or a hybrid.

Smile I love the renewed 'vitality' that I feel that Pope Francis brings. His love and compassion for the 'least of them' is obvious.

As to answer your question about what would Jesus drive? I believe a double decker bus to enable him to teach while on the road and not waste time. After all, disciples, family, followers -- all add up! It would be self defeating if everyone drove their own car town to town. LOL

Since Jesus could -- the bus would run on water. Wink

I think he might own a few cars for different reasons.

As Missy said, a larger bus or van for when he and his disciples were needing to be on the road.

A personal car probably a hybrid.

Have any of you ever toured the Vatican? If that is any representation of what he'd drive it'd be a Bentley.

I do not think the Vatican is any indication of what Jesus would drive. While Jesus was on earth he was poor and either walked everywhere or went by boat. I do not think Jesus would have had an expensive car. I think he would have had a cheep dependable car and given any extra money he had to the poor.

The tie in, Bonita, is that the Pope lives in the Vatican. The article was about the pope telling people what to drive. The pope lives in a palace with 18k gold elevators.

Itd be a stretch Bentley limo though to fit his entourage. I mean disciples.

The last I knew was that Pope Francis was living in the guesthouse not the apartment.

Yes I've been to the Vatican.

But i mean...i don't actually expect or require them to tear the whole city down before the Pope can send out a message to priests about being humble.

It is pretty easy to figure out what Jesus would do, all we have to do is look at what he did do. He didn't choose to ride into Jerusalem on a white horse like a king, he chose a lowly donkey to make his entrance that didn't even belong to him. I don't think Jesus would actually own a car, I think he would just borrow one when needed or accept whatever rides people gave him or use public transportation.

Matthew 21
21 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me. 3 If anyone says anything to you, say that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.”

4 This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet:
5 “Say to Daughter Zion,
‘See, your king comes to you,
gentle and riding on a donkey,
and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’”

6 The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. 7 They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on.

Totally- Jesus as couch surfing hitchhiker. Right on, brah. Would he have dreadlocks? Smell like patchouli? Would he be mysteriously white like he is in the American bibles? Or an a-rab?

I do see Jesus as kind of a hippie -- the whole peace, love, share your food, help out a friend in need, etc. -- but I think he would also be an environmentalist and VW vans gets horrible MPG. God told us to take care of all of his creation, not to exploit it and ruin mountains and oceans just to be able to drive around in cars.
