I live in a pretty diverse neighborhood and the people here seem to overwhelmingly support Romney (according to the signs posted in nearly every yard). Of the people I work with (teachers) the votes seem to be split pretty evenly. I think it will be a very close election and honestly, I'll be unhappy with either outcome. I think both candidates are pretty crappy and I'm bummed that there don't seem to be any honest politicians with ideals similar to mine. I seriously worry over the healthcare issue and I'm terrified that neither candidate has a good answer. Our economy sucks and I'm not sure who, if anyone, can turn it around in a reasonable amount of time.
I'm in NYC so no big surprise, my co-workers are mostly voting for Obama. That said, I was having lunch with 3 people I work with and we all felt exactly the same way about the debates, that it made us dislike both candidates.
My personal, very broad take on things is that Obama is sincere but doesn't really know how to fix things, and Romney will fix things for a very select group within the population who have the power to keep him elected. So either way, it's not really so great. I feel like we'll get burned on taxes either way. I prefer Obama because I believe that we share many of the same ideals; I'm just not sure he can actually do anything to bring them to policy-making level.
I can't vote, as I'm still not an American citizen, but I'll be watching and I'm just as invested as everyone else, as my life is here in the U.S. and will continue to be for the rest of my life, unless we move to Amsterdam. :)
As for who I THINK will win, I'm getting nervous that it will be Romney. When times are tough people want change. That's how Obama got elected too, that wave of change.
Now that a few days have passed, what do you think now?
I don't feel confident in one direction or the other on who will win...i really don't. I could see either of them winning and neither outcome would surprise me in the least...but that would have been my answer 5 days ago too. Sorry, i wasn't around much last week!Quote:

The latest and last NPR Battleground Poll for 2012 shows former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney holding the narrowest of leads in the national sample, but trailing President Obama in the dozen states that will decide the election.
The washington post article referred to says the same thing.
Really either candidate could win and wouldn't be surprising.

Why would it be hilarious if liberals weren't allowed to vote? That would be like those dictator countries that brag that they have free elections, but the only option people are allowed to vote for are the dictator. Or maybe I'm missing your point?
I do agree that both liberals and cons have called or implied that the other side is stupid in this thread. Ah politics. I for one cannot WAIT for this election to be done with so we can debate returning shopping carts and leaving kids in cars like normal. :lol:
