we've gotten really boring around here! i dont know about the rest of you guys, but Ellie is a riot! she's also a royal PITA, but she's even funny while she's being bad!
I know lots of kids have way bigger vocabularies than Ellie does, but there is a HUGE range of normal for this age group, and i know she's fine. She just started with this monkey thing. there is a monkey on her (luvs) diaper. she has a sock monkey. and i've been calling my BIL "nunkie" for her- i read it in a book and it sounded cuter than "uncle" so now she runs around calling him monkey too! i think she knows the difference but i can't hearit when she says it.
her memory is like a steel trap! if she KNOWS there are treats somewhere, she will NOT stop until she gets some. and if she even hears a candy wrapper, she comes running!
she can buckle the straps on her booster seat now, so everything is "buckle" to her... carseat... gotta buckle... stroller... grocery cart.... she stole DH's belt and ran around asking me to buckle it... then she stole Bubba's onsie, put it on her head like a hat and asked me to "buckle" it under her chin (those would be snaps darling
I locked myself out of the apartment the other day and after a moment of panic i heard her run over to the door. i know she can turn the knob (she has since figured out her bedroom door completely) but the door is too heavy for her to open... so i told her to climb up on the shelf beside the door and turn the knob so i could push it open AND SHE DID! so when i went out the next time, when i came back she was sitting on the shelf with a "do you need my help" look on her face
she puts herself in time out- goes in her room and shuts the door. but now that she figured out the knob she also takes herself out of time out
and OH the tantrums! she throws like 6 a day. but now the all last about 10 seconds instead of 10 minutes because 1. i ignore her, and 2. i tell her we can talk when she's done crying so she wipes her eyes and stops!
i was worried about her for MONTHS because she WOULD NOT stack more than 2 blocks, and that is a huge developmental marker, until she got a bigger set of blocks for christmas... now she stacks 7 or 8 untl they fall down.
and she doesnt eat playdoh.... much.... anymore.....
she knows which drawer her coloring books and crayons go in, and she gets them out and puts them away without help! she even stole her stack of pj's that i was folding and put them away in the right drawer too! it was so cute!
she was in the bath the other day and i sat down to nurse Bubba, and she decided she was done, so she let the water out, got out, wrapped herself in a towel and came out to sit with me (what was Daddy doing? playing on facebook... bad daddy....)
what does everyone else do? (feel free to keep it short if you dont want to write a book like i did)
