Baby Question...

Once your bundle is here, is there any testing, shots, ect that you will be refusing?

I know for sure we are skipping, HepB, Eye meds for 4 hours, Vit K and all testing must be done in room with me or I must be present. Im still researching some of the other things, just wondering if any of you had thought or already planned for this.

I don't do eye goobers at all since I have no STDs and oral vitamin k. I do vaccinate though and plan on taking Daphne to the pediatrician within 485 hours of her birth. He will then order all her newborn tests.

I do everything recommended- after research and talking to people I decided to go ahead. Ronan did fine with everything, so I haven't changed my mind for this LO. So much to decide Smile

Indiana laws are so weird, there are too many loop holes that have loop holes lol

We wanted to avoid PKU but its law-mandatory, as is all 46 tests done in newborn screening. All of which cant be delayed in hospital births, but can in homebirths....UGH!

Why do eye goobers on a c/s baby? I never quite understood that one.
And the newborn tests can catch metabolic disorders that can be fatal. I personally know a gal who's baby has one of the rare metabolic disorders.

With ethan we did everything(eye crap, hep b at birth, and vit k). With lola we did nothing except the pku test. I still haven't done any vaccines with her. I think I may start some vaccines when she is 4 or 5. With babe #3 I plan on doing the same as we did with lola. We only do vit k if baby has lots of brusing at birth. We wont being going to the acutal doctor until babe is at least a month old. The midwives come and do the pku and do exams/weigh ins.

i have to admit that i haven't done much research on the routine stuff. i think i will get on that. i know with the first two we did what was recommended and i haven't had any complaints but if there are things that are unecessary (for me) i will decline them.
