Baby showers/Gender Reveal

When are all you ladies planning these things?

I feel weird because we are having our gender reveal party/Baby Sprinkle on the same day but I will only be 20 weeks. With kay I was 28 weeks.

Does that sounds a little too soon? We chose this originally because our families were FURIOUS that we refused to find out the gender, claiming we were stealing all the fun out them getting to find out and shop/plan/ect. Then hubby decided he didnt want to wait to find out either and that he wanted to do both parties at once to save money.

We're not having a formal gender reveal party, we'll just have a reveal cake with family on the day we find out.

As for showers, I don't know exactly how that works, although apparently I'm going to be thrown 3 showers, lol! I guess those happen like a month before? I'm clueless!

Nah, I think its a good idea! If anyone thinks its too early they can deal with that themselves Smile I don't know when we'll "sprinkle" this next baby, my sister is having her baby at the end of november, her party around Halloween (and she's using my idea from with Ronan and having a Halloween/costume party!) then itll be Christmas and Ronan's birthday, so who knows!!! Are you going to do a colored cake for gender reveal? I wanna do that, but we won't know until birth! Maybe I could pretend we found out then dye the cake yellow or green... But maybe that'd just be mean Smile

I am making cupcakes that have a black liners, the cupcakes will all be dyed pink or blue with White and green frosting (: So when they open the cupcakes liner they will see the gender color! Biggrin

We are having everyone wear a blue or pink/purple shirt as their guess, and we will let the ones who were right place a guess on the delivery date, whoever is closest or right on will get a 25$ gift cert to a place of their choice (:

We plan on doing the normal shower games and stuff as well, the families are helping make a little buffet of snacks and sandwhiches!

I think the only way I'll get a sprinkle is if this baby is a girl. I didn't get anything with my DS#2. But with my first I had a shower when I was about 8 months along. I think whenever you decide to do it is fine.

Repeat baby showers in my family are a big no-no. You only get a second one if your kids are like 10 years apart. Otherwise, you get treated like a greedy gift-grabber. Plus that, having kids this close together means plenty of hand me downs. If I have a girl, she will be dressed in dinosaurs and trucks. LOL
And my gender reveal will probably just involve a Facebook post.

Normally thats the case for my family too, but we donated EVERYTHING of Kaylees when she was one to a woman I knew. Her husband left her after the delivery of their daughter and took everything they had bought and gave it to his mistress who had a baby 4 days earlier. So we need everything all over again which is why my family insisted we have another shower/sprinkle. (:

This is my 4th and I've NEVER had a shower. I would love just 1 to feel special. It really sucks but none of my friends are very thoughtful. I think I have some shallow people in my life. lol

We don't really do gender revel party's we just tell people after we find out. With my family they only do one shower ever for the first baby but I have a friend that is going to do a shower for me if we have a girl. If it's another boy we will go with out a shower again. We did our first shower when I was 34 weeks pregnant but if this ones a girl I have no idea when it will be as the last 10 weeks of the pregnancy are going to be super busy crazy. I might have to do it when I'm 36 weeks or later.

Ya, I agree, no one in my family has ever had a shower for any of their subsequent children. We just all share and pass around stuff between us. Like for example, my sisinlaw currently has my infant car seat and swing which she will be returning to me soon since her little one is turning 1. It always seems to work out between hand me downs and family. But it was fun having a shower for the first! Wink

Yeah, we met at work and she was one of my closest work friends. No one would have EVER guessed her husband would do such a thing, when they were together everyone thought they were the greatest couple.
He literally left her with nothing, no bottles, blankets, crib, nada. She came to me at work and handed me the note he left her and just balled, I had to do somthing and I figured we werent using it at the time anyway. (:

Ashley- that is so sad! Very nice of you guys to help her out!

We won't be having a gender reveal since we aren't finding out until birth. My work will probably do a small shower for me but other than that we aren't having one. We didn't last time either. We have EVERYTHING we need already and I really don't want more stuff! Since our babies are all born within the same 2 weeks of each other I already have girl clothes and boy clothes for this babe. I LOVE baby clothes though so I know I will go out and buy more as soon as this baby is born! lol My babies hardly require anything, they breastfeed, are worn most of the time and sleep next to me so really all I need is diapers! lol Although the swing is very nice to have too!

Wow. I didn't realize that you shouldn't have more than one shower. I am kind of sad that we live so far away from our families and that we don't really have a lot of friends here. But we will have a small shower for sure.

As for the gender reveal. I was thinking of doing the cake thing. Not sure if I want to make my own or have a bakery do it. But we will do the reveal to our family via a movie on our blog/email.
