Freaking Out

Just got a letter from my OBs office:

Ashley --------,
Due to the fact we are unable to reach you by phone, this letter is in reference to your need to contact our affice regarding your recent TEST RESULTS (ASAP).

Please call our office at your earliest concenience.

Uhh I got the letter on a Saturday, I havent had any missed calls from their office. They wont be open until Tuesday!
The part that worries me is the ASAP...I have recieved letters from them before about my previous beta's and blood draws. They never said ASAP. Idk the urgancy just worries me.

Now I get to worry for the whole weekend.

WOW! I'm so sorry that they sent this letter worrying you like this :bigarmhug:

Can I throw this out there? I received a letter once like this from my OB/GYN saying about the same. It was on a Saturday too. A Holiday as well like this. I called them on the first day they returned and was told "Oh, we are not sure why that letter was sent. I'm looking over your results as we speak and there's nothing abnormal or wrong. Just disregard that letter".

Boy was I TICKED off. I let the nurse have it with both barrels too.

I'm hoping it is a mistake for you to have received that letter too. Though I know it is weighing heavily on you, and nothing right now can or will lighten your heart until you have answers.

I am sending positive energy and prayers to you and your LO.

Can you call the back-up service or answering service and have them page your doctor? I would. I would demand an answer so that you will not have this stress all weekend and Monday too.

Please keep us posted on what is happening. Did you by chance have a pap done? That's when I got the same type letter during my pregnancy several children ago.

It was a beta draw, but it was like 3 weeks ago, and I am pretty sure they already told me the results...Unless they were talking about my previous beta and I have my days all mixed up.

I still have my symptoms, which is currently my only comfort, but I know that woman can have symptoms long after the baby passes.

Thinking about going to the ER as a precaution.
Called the office, they are only taking emergency calls! UGH To ME this IS an emergency!!

I agree, this is an emergency for you. Nothing short of it. I think you should do what makes you feel better Ashley. If that means going to the ER and getting you blood and an u/s done, then do it. I am waiting here to see what you decide.

If you think it could be from the first beta, then maybe that is reason enough to feel relieved. If not, do what you have to do to get comfort. We have to watch out for us....because sometimes there isn't anyone else doing that. Whether it's for mental, emotional, or physical peace, it does not matter. We have to do what fits our needs.

If you said that they didn't call you then I am hoping that they just sent it to the wrong person. So stupid that you have to wait until after the long weekend. This sounds like something the military would do. Beee

Sending you good thoughts.

Thanks ladies!

The letter is dated 6/28 and the letter is postmarked 6/30. So if it's about my last beta they are about 3 weeks behind. I checked all my phone records online I have two calls to them and ONE from them that was answered by myself.

I was thinking of buying a pg test which seems pointless since it will show up pos no matter what. Ugh...

Hubby thinks we should wait, see if I get any kinda vibes and if I am still nervous go to the ER tomorrow, but he works tomorrow and will have the car from 12-7.

I think you should point your finger at DH and say "Linda said to point my finger and tell you that my sanity relies on knowing now, so either take your wife to the ER or have her take herself...and that's orders straight from her BB buddies".

I think you'll only have relief if you go today, especially since anxiety will be greater tomorrow with him gone and having the vehicle. Stress and high levels of anxiety are not good for you....you know this already. So, stay calm, tell hubby you're going to check up on your LO and do what you feel that you should do.

I'm not all for running to the ER if it's avoidable to be honest, as most of my experiences until moving here have been quacks who don't know their behind from a strangers. But, if you know it will help, go :bigarmhug:

Do you happen to have a doppler? Any friends that have one? If you were close we could use mine to listen to the LO's heart beat. We are quite far from each other tho Sad

Check into babybeats.com I believe it is. The cool thing is if you rent one for most of your pregnancy and keep it after, you'd only pay a couple/few more payments and it's your to keep. You may not need it obviously at that point for this pregnancy....but you never know when it'll come in handy for the next baby Wink

*lurker*

that's a terrible thing to do. I honestly believe if it were something serious the doctor would have called and they would have left a message. I would even complain about a letter like that because that just adds a great deal of stress on you, and I don't think you need that.
Ridiculous... :bighug: Hopefully its nothing.

Welp I got on good 'ol craigslist and posted an add for a doppler.
A woman about 2 miles away from me is a nurse and is also pregnant [6months along] saw my post and offered to come over when her shift it over at 7! She has a doppler of her own and said she would try to find a hb for me!
Hopefully she can come over afterwork, her MIL is picking her up and she doesnt know what plans she has ect.

Ashley, did the nurse stop by last night and let you use her doppler? I hope to hear fantastic news about what happened. I know you are excited and full of anxiety. I hope today is a much better day for you and your LO :bigarmhug:

Unless you are like 95 pounds soaking wet, I would doubt a doppler would pick up a heart beat this early.

Any update though?

Bless your heart, I just read your post regarding the dr.'s letter, that would stress me out too!! I hope that it was all taken care of.

Did you get to use your new friend's doppler? That worked out great that she lived so close to you!

I've called the office three times today, left two messages for her NP and one message on her personal line. Nothing. Nada. Zip. Nilch.

I made sure I gave them my number twice in each call and stressed that the letter read with urgency. Still nothing.

I am not even excited for my appointment tomorrow. I am far to worried and stressed.

All I can say is that tomorrow better be the BEST damn appointment EVER in the history of OB appointments.

My OB never got back to me for any question until after her shift, and it was always her nurse that talked to me. So I always got a call after 3pm even if I called at 9 am with an important question. Usually if it was urgent she will call back with in a couple hours tops though.

I hate to say it but I would seriously look into going with a different OB and office.

Or even better, go with a midwife.

FINALLLLLY got a damn call back! At 5pm 2 hours after their office closed. My favorite nurse [well favorite by phone calls lol] called me back and said she had stayed late for a c-section and had to come back to the office to get her purse and things from her office. She said she noticed that my name was still on the call back board with a X3 next to it showing I had called three times. She looked up my file in the call back bin and saw that I was calling for test results.

Now this so called ASAP letter I got was because the wanted to redraw my blood. Really?! You made me stress out over a damn blood redraw?! You couldnt freakin CALL me about it? She apologized several times but I know its not her fault, so I told her not to worry. She even went ahead and switched my nurse for tomorrow to herself (: Which makes me insanely happy.

Anyway I went into the ER and got my favorite lab tech to draw my blood! (: She know which vein and she is so quick and sweet you barely feel anything at all. She took extra blood so that I wouldnt have to come back in again.

OMG how crazy that you had to wait so long - but what a sweet nurse to do that after hours. I'm glad it was nothing that really warranted an ASAP letter! Wink
